Ban tracking addons in pvp (random bg)

As someone who has played mostly melee dps in PvP since 04, I can tell you that healers are always my target :stuck_out_tongue: Even without an addon, I can see who is casting a heal from far away, but I also have the eye for it. I can see where people would think the addon takes away from needing to use personal “skill”, but I see it as a way to even the playing field.

In all absolute fairness though, healers are the first target in PvP anyway, since they control the sustainability of the team

We’re talking about PvP, buddy. Not PvE achieves from 10 years ago.

Whatever. You’re just trying to say “I must be bad” out of nowhere.

Not trying to be rude, but you have 41khp and only 10% versatility doesn’t help. Once someone notices you are made of cardboard armor, they’re going to focus you.

This has been a thing since forever even without addons, it’s not hard to look at enemy HP/MP to determine if someone is under geared.

You can simply cycle through the players and go after the one with the lowest hp if its by a good margin.

Who needs an addon to check gear all they need to do is look at your health compared to theirs .

This is what I’ve always stated. If there’s a mage that has more health than me, and I’m in tank spec, then they have very good gear.

I don’t know man, poker players are allowed to electronically track which cards have been played, and count how many cards are left in the deck.

It’s only logical PVP can do the same. No one is going to measure how well a person remembers thing. The next thing you’ll tell me is that PVP should be about skill, not gear. /s

Which is why gear in PVP makes it not PVP. Gear is anti PVP.

HARD disagree with this. This is how it was in Legion, and I believe early BFA? Might be wrong about the BFA part, but people gamed this system heavily by equipping really low ilvl gear with absolutely perfect stats. The scaling system was absolutely terrible, so they’d go into the BG and steamroll people way worse than what’s happening now. They couldn’t balance it back then, they definitely cannot balance it now.

The best pvp this game has ever seen, in my experience/opinion, was in MoP. And thankfully Dragonflight is looking to be fairly similar to MoP in regards to pvp gear. The current system is very punishing if you aren’t already geared for pvp, but it will be better in DF.

SL is indeed extremely punishing for undergeared players. I found this out very early into Season 1, when I got lucky and got a 226 ilvl 2hander out of the weekly Vault, like the first week into the season.

Taking this 226 weapon into BGs, back when everyone was still in greens/blues and with weapons in the 150-170 ilvl range, felt like downright cheating. I was basically deleting everyone I fought. 1v1s were absolutely laughable.

It was at this point that I knew Shadowlands pvp gearing was going to be an absolute clown fiesta.

Idk, man lol Sometimes, gear is 100% important in PvP. If Dwayne Johnson is angrily running my way, having a crowbar might help my chances of survival

So you want to ban the default UI showing health numbers?

We don’t need addons to stomp undergeared players

BAttleground Enemies won’t stop anyone from getting 2 shot because SL gearing is crap

If this is their alt, you don’t want to meet their main lol.
Their “alt” is Rival on 2v2 and Challenger I on 3v3. And if you’re going to compare old achievements, he had a score of 1700 on rated battlegrounds.

Not arguing that at all. I realize that if I go into pvp as heals I’m enemy #1. That said what I’m arguing is longevity and addons that create me as an instant target totally eliminate that. But I also believe you shouldn’t be able to inspect anyone as soon as you enter the waiting room in pvp as well. It should be about players like you that have figured out how to tell who I am through time and effort.

I can see your Max HP. No addons required.

I can see why it would bother some, for sure! I suppose I’ve always viewed addons as a tool, rather than something to be abused. But this topic has been coming up a lot lately, and it seems with good reason
