Are we defending RMTers here? They’re pay pigs.
That’s on you, friend.
Anything to contribute to the discussion or are you just attempting to troll?
Just hoping to keep the forums civil, friend.
She has actually contributed more than you have
What’s your solution for targeting RMT? RMT is already against the ToS and Blizzard seems to be incapable of keeping it in check. What do you suggest in resolving that problem or are you similar to the other posts present suggesting for the “Sit idle and do nothing” approach?
Best way to target rmt is to just ban all legal activities that may have RMT in them right?

Banning degenerate activities is a step in the right direction. Just because something is legal doesn’t make it moral. With the community being driven to the ground by profiteers such as yourself, RMTers, and bots a correction is needed to steer it back to a traditional MMO. Not a gacha/phone game as you would have it.
Your first mistake is comparing 2007 to 2022 gaming. Everyone is better and more efficient than they were 15 years ago.
The intention of the game is steer us back in time to a point where all of the retail features are gone and hopefully the retail mindset as well. The level of degenerate gameplay was never even close to this level back in 2007.
Hypothetically speaking if you could snap your finger and all rmt is gone.
Gdkps would still exist, you do realize that right?
Because players didnt have the game solved like they do now. If they did have the knowledge we have today you can be certain it would be no different than it is now. And gdkp and boosting is not a retail mindset. Those were present back then as well
GDKPs might exist but, the level of which they’re done as well as boosts would be far less. As of right now GDKPs + Boosts are been spurred on by the RMT in TBC & retails coin system. They provide a means for players to deal in game gold for progression and any progression brought on financial means is degenerate. Would I be caring as much if the RMT was as bad? Probably not because I wouldn’t see the chat flooded with BOOST GDKP BOOST GDKP every other post.
Just because players have “solved” the mysteries of the game doesn’t mean the game suddenly devolved into a GDKP + Boosting. Saying knowledge ruined Classic is a laughable argument to make as knowledge doesn’t create degeneracy. Players create the degeneracy and it’s up to the people in charge or the community to prevent/stop degenerate behaviors.
Edit: I would even go as far to say that even Blizzard holds contractual agreements in game and enforces them. There was a time in the wild west that was WoW that people were able to ninja/con without consequences. Rules were made to prevent this degenerate behavior and now it’s up to Blizzard to further create more rules to end GDKP + Boosting degeneracy.
Why would it be less? If anything it would be equal as it is literally the best way hands down bar none to pug raids.
The only thing that would happen is prices would drop but they would be the exact same in terms of what items cost.
Instead of a 2k payout you might have a 1k payout but in that world 2k=1k.
Nothing would change because rmt is the issue, not gdkps.
Youre witnessing right now in classic that players having the knowledge now that they didnt back then has lead to what you call “degeneracy”. The only thing holding players back in 2007 was not knowing what they were capable of doing. Pretty obvious
How would casual gamers showing up to your GDKP runs have 5k+ to drop down for weapon or gear? Why would people run someone through a raid for loot they could acquire to gear their raid/guild for pennies? The GDKP runs are for RMTers to spend their illicit funds that they wouldn’t have been able to achieve in game. You would spend 1-3 hours for the possibility of 50g being split to everyone?
Again, you’re blaming knowledge for degeneracy. Just because someone knows something doesn’t mean they’re going to act out on it.
The runs would generate the same spending power.
Sure the actual numbers would be lower but they would have the same spending power.
Why wouldn’t people still run gdkps?
Even if you took half my gold I’d still have 20k-30k gold to spend on items that would be much cheaper.
Nothing would change in your fantasy world.
Instead of adal going for 48k it would go for 10k but the value of gold would be equivalent because theres less of it in circulation. Its not rocket science. People would still boost players and gdkp would still be active, the price for these would just be lower
There is zero chance youre ever gonna experience the game the way it was 15 years ago. You should probably just acknowledge that now.
It would be far greater than half. You’re looking at seeing that glorious pot drop by a fifth or more. Making ~100g a raid for every person in the 25man. That’s 1-3 hours for a raid and some people are able to acquire gold faster through farming/crafting far faster. You’re also dealing with a lot less people and more casuals meaning that there is no one around to farm the thousands of gold for the item.
The price would drop considerably but, you’re only banking 400g instead 2000g for that item now. People would actually have to contemplate whether they want to throw money that would take them weeks to months to farm or simply not attend. Instead with this degenerate behavior someone will just buy the gold, pay for the carry, and you’ll carry them for progression. Pay2Win.
Wasn’t the idea of Classic going back to days in which gaming was traditional and not degenerate? “Just settle for the game to be garbage!”. Yeah what a great strategy for fostering a great community is to do nothing?
That 2000 is equivalent to 400 when the economy isnt as inflated as it is right now. You understand that right? Gdkp would still remain the best gold farming strategy. You will not farm strat and get 300g for an hour of playing like you will from a split pot in non inflated economy.
The reason they released classic was an effort to stop private servers. If it was truly to go back in time and experience it as it was back then, they failed that mission day 1 of launch
