make it permanent they have even less attachment to their characters and will just buy more gold, and pay for someone to level it for them.

I’ve been on Grobbulus since day one of Classic, and it started out as a medium population server. It wasn’t until transfers opened up that the population grew.

The core problem with boosting wasn’t that it pushed players out of the level ranges, it was that it meant there were no players for normal parties. Out leveling the range certainly didn’t help but at any given time, at any given level range, there were people who could do dungeons. They just weren’t because they were AFK in one of a small set of dungeons.
The similarity between this and GDKP is that when players start to see GDKP as their only real option (as happened with boosting), they will start to only run those. Which means the pool of players available for more traditional loot style runs shrinks.
Is this a problem? I don’t know. But it could be.
Just because something could be a problem doesn’t mean it should be banned, but it’s worth looking at with a critical eye. If we want to live in a world where all player interactions are monetized (which is absolutely where WoW Classic’s current trajectory is taking us) then so be it. If we don’t, then something will need to be done about it.

I’m surprised they haven’t in all honesty. Blizzard already doesn’t like it when players buy gold and GDKP is in essence the same thing. People are now getting into the groove of “trading” WoW Classic gear for Retail WoW gold complete with conversion ratios (it’s like 1 Classic gold = 100-250 retail gold). This means that people can essentially buy gear through…WoW tokens…
…Wait a minute…
Edit: But in terms of a viable solution, why not just take the gear/gold away if the reported party is honestly guilty? The worst thing you can do to anyone in terms of farming/boosting is to hurt their bottom line, and if both parties get potentially nothing out of it and losing everything then why would they bother?
They can join a group with like geared people.

Gear is only a part of the parse. Gearing isn’t going to fix suboptimal gameplay.
I was in a dungeon group with another hunter that had pretty much all their BiS T4 gear (around T5 came out), and i was in a mix of dungeon blues and AH blues. I was doing significantly more DPS. So yea, gear gives you the potential to do a lot more damage, but if you aren’t taking the right talents, using the right gems and know how to get the most of out the gear you are using with rotations and cooldown management, you will still get wrecked by a experienced person.
maybe against literal bots AKA pve. In PVP though? Gear can definitely make up for a lack of skill lol. Its funny how easily you can tell who got carried to their gear and who didn’t.
Its the difference between gettting samurai sliced and splitting apart a second later while they pose like shadow the hedgehog behind you…and then there’s carried carl the ogre who just clubs you with their rating gear because money. Both win, but one actually feels bad to lose against.

gdkp is a player oriented loot system, if you dont like it, dont participate, create your own type of loot system.

Ive participated in a couple of these auction raids or w/e. It wasnt super expensive. Fair prices for most part.
How does it effect you?
Most raids i did run were need over greed with no gold involved (the best kind). gdkps ive run when pugn content, the going bids were reasonable
i dont think you should be actively trying to trample on freedom…and its impossible for you to stop it by force…if you want to stop it then you must get others to simply not participate (this i mostly support, as i dont care for em much will participate in the rare one now and then)

It doesnt affect me personally. But there are others Ive spoken to that are too casual to participate in GDKP’s for money and they aren’t desirable enough to be in any kind of good raids groups. (GUess what this pushes them towards naturally. RMT!!! woooo)
No one really pugs raids without HUGE effort these days so they’re fairly rare. I personally put that effort into it myself when i feel like doing a big thing like org raid or whatever lol but that’s just my stubborn SELF doing a lot of work.
It definitely affects people outside the GDKP circle. Just most GDKP people dont care. And honestly they’re not really obligated to?
Im just saying. Don’t act like it doesnt affect others is all.
