Again, I’m not disputing that you can have a good experience with GDKP. However, from what I’ve observed both through my own experiences and that of various posters, there are also concerning behaviours as well.
Is that enough to justify it being banned? Well, as I said, personally I’m not yet willing to take a stance on that. I’m just… concerned… especially given its progression and how things turned out with boosting.
It’s not my intention to say that people are forced into it, only that they could be. When something becomes the only viable option, that tends to be what happens. If everybody becomes conditioned to expect GDKP runs, people will not be inclined to join alternatives.
This is what we saw with boosting. Early on there was still enough normal groups that it didn’t matter that people were running boost groups. However, over time, players started to see this as an easier path and would just opt to boost, reducing the pool of players available for a normal run. Eventually, what would happen is that there would be tons of players online and in a dungeon, but they were all being boosted. The players who actually wanted to run normally weren’t able to because everybody was being boosted.
This leads to the question of, is it healthy for the game to have everybody being AFK while someone else levels for them? Blizzard’s answer as no so they took steps.
Now please understand, I’m not saying that boosting and GDKP are the same. I’m just saying there are similarities in how they are developing, and that’s worth some consideration.
