I’m not saying the system needs to be 100% effective—no system will ever be perfect. But that doesn’t mean we should settle for one that’s clearly unfair and could be improved.
Take the deserter debuff. It’s applied indiscriminately. If you get DC’d? Debuff. Kicked because someone in the group doesn’t like your transmog? Debuff. In LFR, if you’re backfilling and need to re-queue to target specific bosses, you’re stuck redoing bosses for no reward, or you drop group and, you guessed it, debuff. That’s not minor; that’s the system punishing players for things they often can’t control.
There are ways to fix this. Removing the debuff entirely would bring us back to how it worked at the start of the expansion. Not perfect, sure, but less frustrating and objectively better. Or, in LFR, the system could place players into groups with matching boss lockouts, so they’re not repeating content for no reason. For LFD, offer players joining dungeons in progress some kind of incentive—more gold, augment runes, something to make it worth their time.
No, these changes wouldn’t make the system perfect. But they’d make it better. That’s the point of improving things: reducing frustration and making the game fairer overall.
The goal, as I’ve maintained, is addressing the issue, not accepting what is current standard. I’ve also not stated that the bar for a system that does work is 100%, not sure why you think that just because something is still happening after changes means it’s an improvement that can’t be worked upon. Your resistance implies that.
yeah…PTR would be just fine. I might even try healing on the PTR and see how it works out at that rate.
I would never have believed that player behavior is as bad in Beta and on the PTR as it is on live had I not seen it with my own eyes, lol…so trying it out there would be a good idea.
That’s not exactly how it worked at the start of the expansion. You had to be in the group for a certain length of time and killed at least one boss. If you didn’t do both of those, you received a debuff. And if you killed a boss in less than that set amount of time, you got like a 10 min cooldown before you could join again.
Now, I think it should go back to that. No one had an issue with that. It was just a one incident degenerate behavior over a trinket. It can be changed back now.
Eh… that might screw over how queues work and put people in too long of queues. But the system needs separated. One for dungeons and one for LFR. And just go back to how it was for LFR before.
I’m not so sure. The system can already track lockouts, once you queue, it knows what bosses you can or cannot do. It becomes a simple cross check on where to place you. Considering how many I see drop out, as a personal reference, I think it might actually improve queue times. Perhaps this might be not the case if people were able to target specific bosses in LFR, or LFD.
Without the data that blizz has, we’re really just suggesting in the dark. However, we’re still here trying to offer suggestions to improve things for everyone.
Why are you intentionally missing the point? Only 3 player’s votes are needed to successfully kick, the one who initiated it, and 2 others.
Not too hard for a group of three friends to control a group.
Absolutely agree. nearly all of the kicks I saw were bogus.
MOST of the trash behavior in dungeons IS the abuse of the vote kick.
I didnt quit healing because of over pulling tanks or wayward DPS…I quit over the rancid behavior with vote kicking for ZERO justification
Exactly.
I say THREE votes a day per bnet account.
I cant remember 10 valid kicks in 7 years…but I remember a TON of bogus kicks.
If they only have three votes per day they wont abuse the system nearly as much…and IF they do…well too bad…better hope 3 players didnt waste theirs if you NEED to remove someone now.
Actually, I could live with that.
If I can vote no when I know the kick victim has done no wrong and keep them from getting the timeout…that works for me.
though Im betting that MOST dont even look and just vote to kick based on my experience, so how many would actually vote no and save the innocent player a timeout would need to be seen.
on that, thankfully we have Delves now for progression to solo so we can avoid the kicking entirely and actually ENJOY some instanced content without the vote happy kiddies ruining it like they ruined pvp realms.
hopefully Ion and crew open up Follower dungeons to Heroic and Mythic and let it drop relevant gear just like Delves do…no valid reason not to allow both…otherwise one gets used and the other is a bit DOA.
Also hoping that even more great solo content is added over expansions.
PLayer housing will be a welcome addition.
The more we have to do solo, the more the base is divided and the less we have to interact with players who ruined pvp realms and are currently ruining PUGs…and the game willl be fantastic.
