Balancing the Allied Races

I mean. That goes along with what I said.

Yeah, there is a quest to slay a pandaren trying to mend the wounded for a horde invasion quest. Could’ve fixed that one too. :wrench::robot:

edit: Odd enough, there is the horde champion in Brennadam that is meant to be hostile to horde players. Would make sense for Rexxar to clear that trouble for Zelling. :axe::robot:

No that doesn’t track at all. They were made within the allied race system and they use the Goblin model so we should treat them like the other allied races.

But those wouldn’t be allied races. Those would be core races.

It was not great of blizz to do it like this, however, it’s just the alliance player that scares them, the player is still surrounded by NPCs burning things and attacking vulpera, so it clearly happened.
When I did it on my own Alliance alt back when it was current I was quite shocked that it was just ignored that the forces surrounding me were explicitly doing the thing I was told to not do. But then again I don’t think most players take notice of what happens outside of the quest objectives.

Naga. We know Naga are gonna play a part with Azshara in the Worldsoul Saga. I’d like if some get redemption in Midnight. Naga who have rejoined Kaldorei society and have a visage form like Dracthyr that lets them look like Aquatic Night Elves when riding mounts of in combat too if you prfer. And then they could transform into a Naga for combat/swimming if they want. Here’s a lovely mockup with lots of art:

I think there’s a high chance of this happening especially with the Eredar skin questline bringing the Broken back into the fold and Broken NPCs being datamined on the Exodar last PTR for the Draenei heritage quest!

I probably wouldn’t play one myself but I know SO MANY PEOPLE WOULD LOVE THIS YES YES YES lol

Personally I feel like Dark Rangers are almost an Allied Race in a sense which kind of fills one of these spots. But I think it’d be cool if they maybe did San’layn or some Undead models of other races in the game. Also Upright Forsaken please

Well since Elves are all different based on their magic sources usually (in broader terms), maybe some sort of Elemental elf race? They could be more physically transformed than standard Elves, so maybe their have interesting elemental limbs or hair or something

But I think what’s more likely (and what I would be more than happy with) is simply a High Elf race as has been requested for ages. Yes, some people will groan that it’s just another Elf reskin, but it’ll make a lot of people happy for very little effort and Blizz knows it

Yessss

In that case, then the precedent is set, in which case Saberon are a perfectly acceptable variant for an Allied Race based off of Worgen. This means an Allied Race need only be based on the model and nothing further. That also means we’d need a Kul Tiran variant using their model.

If we agree that precedent was flawed, we could FIX that precedent instead of doubling down on it…just say that the Vulpera are the distant cousins of the Goblins. Or maybe the Goblins are a twisted version of the Vulpera changed over time by kajamite.

they become an alied race a patch after nazjtar, it was just too silly, and gilbins are goblins parents.
and tbh they helped the zandalari and the player, no deal on having vulperas but gilbins just fits better

Centaurs would be nice, and those cat-centaurs from Uldum.

Why not just Gilnean humans that aren’t Worgen? Or Vrykul.

Worgen from the Grizzly hills? Itty bitty Chihuahua Worgen?

Pretty sure all the Drakkari are dead. Dark trolls are sadly pretty unlikely candidates.

Orcs have a great of options. We could get Mok’Nathal or Ogres, or split the difference with Forsaken and give us the undead orcs we saw in WC3. (Please Blizz give undead orcs)

I think it would be cool to have Lightrisen Undead following the influence of Calia Menethil and the Church of the Light. Seems like a logical story direction for her at this point, and would be a HUGE story arc in the direction of “Horde and Alliance can get along”

Blood Elves can easily have High Elves, but on the Alliance side. #1 mist contentious debate among the WoW playerbase is whether or not High Elves still exist, which they do, because there are several High Elves in Stormwind Mage Quarter.

Or, throw all this garbage out the window and give us Murlocs

Your premise that core races are associated with 1 allied races is built upon a massive assumption. As a matter of fact, I believe we should just set all races starting level to 1 and retire the allied race concept. But yes, more races and customization options would be welcome. I just don’t think the devs should pigeonhole their options needlessly.

It’s because they wanted to stoke player ‘pride’ in their factions, so they had to make sure they showcased events happening to them to get the fire to burn. Even if it made less than no sense when viewed from a neutral perspective or the narrative fed to one side was an outright lie.

All they succeeded in doing is showcasing how useless the factions as a whole were and how pointless the fight was. As well as highlighting the desperate need for a neutral ‘Adventurer’s League’ kind of faction.

Not really. That’s the primary distinction between allied races and core races. Every allied race has basis in one specific core race. For instance, you’re a knock off Blood Elf. Having that clarified and “pigeonholed” as you say actually helps cement the precedent that core races be better than that. Then we can go back to new and creative ideas.
