Bait and Switch

I think you are close but miss a subtle aspect to it, the choice the customer has but feels they dont have a choice.
You are offered a 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger for $5.99 but find out instead you are getting a veggie burger for $4.99. You traveled 30 min to get this meal. What do you do? That is a more accurate bait and then switch.
– enticing offer attracts you
– but it is intended to be a trick from the beginning, with the actual offer almost no one would want usually.
– given the critical decision ‘moment’ the price or perceived cost is slightly lowered at moment of decision
– the customer has invested time, possibly distance as well. It is not easy to just walk away but the urge is strong to walk away, but the urge is strong to stay because of the time and distance lost already

– you have a decision to make

Current Activision Executive team as they direct the Blizzard development team …
“how can we get the customers to feel cornered to where feel they have little choice but to continue giving money to this game?”

Unsub if you’re not having fun. It’s not brain science

I’m enjoying the game. There are many small issues but I have had a good time in wrath classic.

I feel bad for the current WoW Classic employees. Imagine ending up as a janitor for an IP made by people who all quit your company many years ago. Every time they try to tweak or improve the original winning formula, they screw up horribly, it’s actually comical yet sort of sad to see

Your post may not be meant for me but I have unsubscribed. Launcher shows I have 8 days left on my subscription.

I think I can post until the 8 days is up. I will enjoy these forums long after my sub expires though I guess I will not be able to post.

I have read these forums for a very long time. It is entertaining. Though I no longer care if the game succeeds. I don’t wish it to fail either. I just no longer am invested for whatever reason. Which is no insult to Activision of course. Profits are good and that is all that matters to them.

You should keep your sub, at least. Forum PvP alone is still worth the small cost.

Okay? I’m really not sure what you or anyone else expected. It’s the original product, but marred by problems created by a completely different team – mainly one a lot more beholden to shareholders and whales than the core base. It’s not just the content in a vacuum that made the game what it is. It’s impossible to recreate your Wrath experience. Reasons? Life circumstances, constantly changing dev teams, aging tech, shifting tastes.
You can play Reddit lawyer, but you don’t need a doctorate to see the game and experience was never going to be a carbon copy.

Your problem with the game isnt really the fault of blizzard. They cant make the players play the game exactly how it was played before. Wotlk classic was advertised exactly how it was sold.

If this were OG Wrath, or a faithful recreation, you wouldn’t have RDF right now.

The bots in battlegrounds are frustrating, but the rest of the game is pretty fun.

I am just trying to understand…
You knew ahead of time that something was not going to happen (RDF), you play WoW WoTLK anyway hoping it would (I am assuming) and now you want to be all mad it is not happening and pull the “bait and switch”?

This is the same thing as going into a restaurant and ordering a ham and cheese sandwich knowing the restaurant does not have ham and cheese sandwiches (aka: you read the menu) but you try to order it anyway and then get mad the restaurant does not serve these (and give them a bad score) and then rinse and repeat the same thing the following week at the same restaurant ordering the same sandwich.

oh, oh, ok.

If by vaccinated you mean educated, then yes I would agree, otherwise this is just a cheap unintelligent political response.

A lot of the “magic” of the MMO is the fact you interact with other players. There are repos of the original wotlk servers out there for use of a private server. You could play the original WotLK if you want to. You’d be the only player on your private server. You’ll quickly realize that its not the “code” that made the game special for you in 2008. Maybe you played with IRL friends from school and y’all could talk about the game between classes or mess around, and now you don’t have any friends interested in the game and are trying to play “solo” and just not fitting in well with the general population.
Who knows why you are having a bad time, but the unsubscribe button is easy to find.
Good luck in finding a new home

You should be nicer to your grandpa :frowning: Calling him ugly behind his back, smh.

I think Bait and Switch deals more with:

You see a vacuum advertised for 100.00 (normally 400.00) at X store. You go to X store, but they only had 1 of those models (and they “sold it already”) but the salesperson tries to upsell you to Y model that is way more expensive.

Auto dealers still do it quite often these days. There is a big box retailer that use to get into trouble for it quite often. I won’t mention Sears’ name - I don’t want to be indiscreet.

I agree with you that the bots are an egregious problem, though it’s understandable that this is happening because curbing the problem would either require the man-hours of GMs looking at tickets and/or exploring related situations, or the man-hours of software engineers to break the most recent botting programs. Man-hours that the WoW team doesn’t currently have to give.

Otherwise, no, I think that Wrath Classic has mostly been handled fine enough. I think it’s sad how little of the WoW team’s time Classic gets, but given all the variables at play, I’m happy with it overall.

Where the LFG system is concerned, there are definitely some bugs that can be annoying, but nothing that actually breaks its intended functionality.

Not at all, if you paid any attention to Classic, then TBC Classic you would have seen clearly the drift away from “no changes”. Every change has been well documented and the bot issues have existed for 3+ years.

The only thing that got baited was your expectations, and you did the bait to yourself by not paying attention to over 2 years of classic.

This is what happens when bad devs got ahold of the game and tried to make a name for themselves. While its nice to see the update to the gearing, no RDF is a deal breaker. Blizzard has this new “lets force players to work together” mindset. I know a few people that have quit wow because of it.

The irony is that the lack of RDF does quite the opposite. It forces them into boring af questing instead of group content.

Truth is the truth but nice try on your level 20 mage to look like someone new and supportive.

haha do you think I’m the same person? Sheesh… a lot of paranoia you got there. It used to be that when someone mentions something even slightly anti-left politically, they were immediately flagged, suspended, or banned from the forums, so it’s refreshing to see some bold posters.
