Baine "represents all that is best about the Horde"?

Baine is literally one of the worst leaders in the game.

  • Constantly questions his leader’s decisions.
  • Refuses to help at all during the Zandalar or war campaigns, unlike every other leader. Even Gallywix did something for the war campaign!
  • Tells the mourning princess to make peace with her father’s murderers during the funeral.
  • Betrays Sylvanas, who has the support of her people.
  • Commits treason by freeing a war prisoner and killing off soldiers.
  • Encourages others to betray Sylvanas and join him in his evil schemes.
  • Conspires with a known war criminal and traitor.
  • Conspires with the woman who literally purged Dalaran of Blood Elves and who led the army which murdered the Zandalari king.
  • Stays in Thunder Bluff, knowingly making it a prime target for revenge and endangering the people he should be protecting, instead of fleeing.

The only one possibly worse than Baine right now would be Saurfang, the alien invader who attempted to pillage Azeroth and genocide all human life. How hypocritical of him, the guy who drank demon blood steroids, to be lecturing Sylvanas about “honor” just because she raises undead. Compare Baine’s and Saurfang’s treachery to Sylvanas’ actions and it becomes clear who really has the Horde’s best interests in mind.

  • Destroyed her enemies’ home to eliminate a threat that was near the capital city of her people, and secured total Horde control of Kalimdor.
  • Baited the enemy’s leaders into a trap which would have successfully eliminated all of them were it not for the sudden appearance of Jaina.
  • Sent her soldiers on a rescue mission to free a princess and open up relations with a previously hostile nation to remove another threat against her people by making them an ally.
  • Conscripted powerful enemy commanders who could provide useful information about the NE’s or Alliance’s weaknesses. (Darkshore)
  • Attempted to send in a sleeper agent (Derek) to eliminate one of the most powerful threats to the Horde. Would have worked had Baine not intervened.
  • Selflessly sacrificed her sanity by resorting to using a tool of the old gods to end the war as soon as possible. :squid::dagger:

Oh wow, so evil. She secured the Horde’s home continent, opened negotiations with a foreign power, and recruited veteran solders. How horrifying! What “evils” will she commit next?

Yup, nothing like him finally turning on the woman he’s never trusted; and who under no circumstances should he trust to scream “he doesn’t care about his people”. Seriously, some BE players just seem delusional about Sylvie (and actually seem to like her MORE than the Horde as a Faction; the Forsaken as a Race; and even their own BE racial Lore).

Lor’themar (in not so clear words) more or less says that he’s perfectly capable of honoring Sylvanas for the sacrifices she made for them in life; but is not blind to who and what she has become (in the BE Heritage Questline). For goodness sake, your toon is SPORTING the BE Heritage Armor right now; and if you cannot FATHOM why the BEs should be livid at Sylvanas after Teldrassil I honestly do not think you understand the meaning behind that armor or quest.

I’d love to see Sylvanus public suggest the idea of a mak’gora to Baine just to prove his cowardice further to the other leaders of the Horde.

I bet he’d just weasel his way out of it.

How do you not know how to spell her name? Her name is blasted in our face every time we login.
Its not even a typo, the U is so far off on the keyboard.

Maybe he’s a cannibal, and is making an observation about tasty Tauren brisket?

I wish they would just market the Horde as pure unrelenting evil to make Horde players finally happy. All these flipflops can’t be good if you are trying to have a coherent understanding of your faction.

Stop generalizing, especially when these sort of Horde “posters” are in the vast minority; and are absolutely bending over backwards to justify their position on the topic of Sylvanas.

Very few of us wanted this sort of Villain Batting again, and you’d be shocked how many Horde players seem to be siding with Sylvie purely out of spite for us being forced to kill our own people again in another round of Musical Warchiefs (and having the Alliance once again be needed to save us from ourselves; while also ensuring we’re tainted with Teldrassil from now on).

i don’t know if baine really represents “the best of the horde” when probably don’t even blizzard knows what that means.

is sylvanas? garrosh? thrall? voljin? who the hell knows?

What i do know is that baine, from all the horde characters would be the last one that i would want to kill. if that even says something.

that is not entirely correct, if it wasn’t for baine, jaina would have put an ice lance in his head becase she already knew what sylvanas was trying to do.
but is weird how most of the things you says are true, seems like “the best of the horde” is actually, being evil. Clever blizz.

The thing I’ve noticed about “Baine Hate” is that it is often RIDDLED with Hyperbole. The character has done TWO things in the entire course of his character that have “benefited” the Alliance (and in both instances it was not for the Alliance as a whole, or even Anduin … it was for Jaina).

The first time essentially amounted to a “Get the hell out” note to Jaina to pay her back for her participation in the Grimtotem Rebellion. Baine was right that had Garrosh not waited after the Horde smashed through Northwatch, they would have decimated Theramore with their momentum. Baine did not attempt to stop this attack (hell, he led from the front lines), his goal was merely to try to compel Jaina to get as many of her people out as possible before what he believed to be inevitable occurred (the destruction of Theramore at the hands of Garrosh).

Even IF you are a die-hard Horde Sylvie fanboy his actions really are not that bad in context, and it was not his letter that turned Theramore into a Horde meatgrinder; it was Garrosh’s deliberate decision to stall out in order to allow the city to reinforce as much as possible (and using his own troops as a distraction), to make the most out of the Mana bomb when it dropped. But … none of these people hating on Baine for Theramore, seem to care that it was Garrosh that was responsible for the large Horde death-toll there (not Baine in any way).

The release of Derek is another round of this same Baine Hate nonsense. As Sylvie described her plan, it was just never going to work. It would have served as nothing more than a means of further needless escalation in this conflict; in a War were at the time the Horde was losing on all fronts. The ONLY concievable way it could have worked is if she manipulated Baine into releasing Derek, to use his rep to get Jaina to let her guard down. So … either she planned for Baine to release Derek; or she didn’t (and her plan was trash, and likely would have doomed the Horde).

I say we get the Bronze dragons to pull one last wibblely-wobblely timey-wimey shennanigan and bring back the true heroes of the Horde: Grommash, Cairne, and Orgrim.

Baine can piss off back to Bloodhoof Village handin’ out quests to the newbies where he belongs.

Oh look. An Alliance poster telling Horde players what they want. This is new and different.

EDIT: Why, I bet any moment now Het will tell me how Horde players have told Alliance players far worse.

this sounds like a correct description, if baine succeded that would probably push anduin more further and the alliance has a whole, and probably they would stop caring about morals once and for all and releasing all what the alliance has (sure, i am probably biased because i am alliance, but i think that the alliance is still holding back somehow)
not even speaking about the chance of negotiations.like sure, that is probably what most people want failling to realize that it can’t end in victory or death because playable faction.
and like, everyone seems to forget that the world is dying and yet we use her blood for weapons.

Then why are you replying to me?
You don’t have anything better to do?

How do you know they are a minority?
I see Horde posters here far more often complaining about Saurfang or Baine even looking at the Alliance’s general direction than I do anything else.

I agree … had the plan had continued as she had described it; it would have hardened the few Alliance leaders that are still attempting to find some way to spare the Horde.

TBH … I’ve long since accepted that BfA is Sylvie’s story (which is why the story is bending over backwards on both sides to allow her a chance to accomplish what she needs to accomplish to lead into the next expansion). Its the reason that when I look at her leadership style, the two things she seems to be prioritizing is “Control” (doing the AR questlines back to back makes this SUPER apparent); and keeping this conflict escalated and prolonged as long as she can.

Combine this with the fact that her own motives for wanting this war and burning that tree are still secret (we only know the reasons she used to compel Saurfang, which are not guaranteed to also be hers), and its the reason I’m more or less convinced that this war was never really about the Horde defeating the Alliance. It was about the death toll … and while it would have been nice if that death toll LARGELY came from the Alliance side; its fine if it has to come from the Horde side too.

After all … what was the story purpose of having the Horde PC get stuck in a deal with Bwon if not to highlight exactly how Death Entities (and deals with them) operate? Its served absolutely no purpose beyond that (and has had absolutely no relevance since then). Sylvanas is likely under a similar deal with Heyla as the Horde PC is with the Bwon; and she has a kill-quota she needs to meet to get something, just as we Horde PCs do to get the Zandalari into the Horde.

This argument only works to your benefit if you don’t use it. I mean, clearly you’re as busy as I am. So busy that you had time to poll the entire Horde playerbase to determine what they want.
