Yeah, no, like Kaeska said - Undead can breath under water indefinitely.
The Horde is never allowed to act untill the appointed hour. This is just one of the symptoms of the Game being written by programmers more than it is by Writers.
Nothing feels like it matters because it doesn’t., They’ve done the faction war plot before and we all know how it ended: the Psychotic warchief is put down and Alliance wags its finger at the Horde to do better next time.
This story is just as cynical as it is hollow. The Characters are not characters so much as they are talking moving mouthpeices with scripted text.
In any narrative, No characters have agency and it’s all Writer Sleight of hand. But Blizzard has no proficiency in making it appear that way.
Late to the party here but regarding the whole public mak’gora thing… I can’t imagine Sylvanas cheating in front of everyone and them gasping, fanning their faces at the scandal and going “Is Sylvanas NOT an upstanding beacon of morality? Waaaat?”
That’s what she’s famous for. That’s like going to a meet and greet with Peter Dinklage and going “WOAH! You’re so short!”
I appreciate Baine in that I’m glad my Horde characters now have an option to not be party with baby killing genocidal maniacs.
That said what Baine does is far too little far too late. Baine being the character that sees this war for the petty, potentially world ending, idiocy that it is could be a wonderful characteristic…if we started seeing it the moment the Horde invaded Ashenvale. Now though? It just seems that genocide somehow didnt bother him as much as one solitary risen human.
Also the Mag’har scenario is the dumpster fire all other dumpster fires aspire to be. No part of that scenario wasnt insultingly poorly written. I will die on this hill.
Also Nathanos should be fired out of a cannon into the sun so we can all be spared his overly edgy nonsense. I have never hated a character more than I hate him.
i will die on the hill that the alliance attacking first wouldve been a far, far better course for this expac
“If we don’t attack the Horde in this downtime, then they’ll attack us first, just like every other time.” is a factually true and compelling statement for both sides; alliance players get closure over the warsong, defilers, broken front and wrathgate, garrosh and ashran meaning something instead of being handwaved away and hordies get to feel like heroes on the defense and get to say that the alliance cant let go of old conflicts and actually have it be true
That would’ve been very interesting and showed a hint of development for Anduin - showing that, for once, he’s willing to leave the moral highground behind for the betterment of his people, the Alliance. Don’t get me wrong - I still would’ve preferred we not return to war -at all-, but if we were going to do it, that would’ve at least been -somewhat- interesting, as opposed to… well, this.
Help me out here, cuz I may be remembering wrong. Wasn’t Nathanos based off of, or written by a guy who is a legit Sylvanas fanboy irl? Or am I imagining that factoid?
That is indeed correct. Steve Danuser is a pretty big Sylvanas fanboy.
Oh sweet sassy molassey, he looks like a heavyset version of Nathanos irl.
Oh no. Oh no no no. Oh dear god no. Oh no.
Seriously has anyone googled this guy? This is a new level of cringe and sadness. What a shamelessly obvious self-insert.
Case study number 452 in why we don’t let programmers write the story.
Have you seen that tweet from him about Nathanos’s new model? “It’s like looking into a Dark Mirror.”
My dude…
Let us not forget “Dark Mirror” the short story that exists solely to upgrade ole Nathan’s model and to make it clear that, yes Sylvanas and Nathanos did indeed sleep together.
(Which Steve Danuser wrote)
I feel such an odd combination of annoyance and deep pity for this guy.
Appropriate response when someone’s embarrassing lack of self-awareness is a major influence on an IP you enjoy.
“saw a plague cauldron today…effervescent”
I remember seeing that tweet. I’m still facepalming now…
