Hey folks, opinion time before my grind sessions this weekend, as I sit here and read the forums/patch notes:
Question: After the announced buffs, should I be bringing my Holy Priest main out of SL retirement to raid the last tier, or stick with current alt Rsham?
Background: I mained a holy priest since MoP (except BfA, was an alt to my MW Monk, since retired), but once SL was pre-patched I swapped back to my shaman due to the legendary talks/testing. I have enjoyed the shaman fairly well as an alt and sort of main in SL, but a piece of my heart still sits on my priest. They are both geared equally, ~230, Priest is Venthyr and Rsham is Kyrian, and I dont particularly dislike either healing style.
The priest buffs, changes to the Binding Heal spell (now talent) and the small buff to our mana regen cd have piqued my interest… but is it all much ado about nothing? Watched a few review vids, but the opinions are split between “great” and “could have been more but we will take it,” so I am bringing my question to you guys! Plus, priest bres!!! That was a cool surprise
How can we possibly answer this? You are asking us what you should want to play. And it’s not like you are doing cutting edge content, so play what you like.
We can’t tell you which you will enjoy playing more.
The buffs are welcoming but I don’t see it making the spec being op and meta.
If you are not really aiming for CE the choice won’t really matter and play whatever you like and enjoy the most.
It was more of a hypothetical “if you had your choice to play casually and have fun, would you stick with a Rsham, or would the announced changes have been enough to entice you back to Holy Priest to give it a shot?” Hpriest has been meh up until now in SL with its ups and downs but the proposed buffs really do seem like they will put you in a decent spot comparatively from where you used to sit… plus the rebirth talent! Sounds like a nice game-changer for playstyle, or is it just overhype?
But you guys do make a point… guess Ill just pug around with both for now and see how they shake out!
Well, I understand why you quit on hpriest after dealing with the Legion-BFA fiasco, but they made improvements in SL. Its worth playing right now. Next expansion, unless we get a single-target rework (and by rework, I mean "Heal’s casting time is reduced to Flash Heals and flash heal goes away), we’ll be relegated back to the closet for Mythic+, as we are completely dependent on the Flash Concentration legendary to be competitive at our job.
and here i am maining holy priest in TBC , which feels amazing. i wish they kept the same play style during the years. spamming CoH and topping meters feels awesome, instead of spamming flash healing out of combat to keep the stupid buff up
That’s how it was back then. CoH was a spammable Prayer of Healing on other parties so that’s all you did inbetween casting PoM. You’d cast it like 150+ times in a fight.
Retail Holy Priest is just spam Heal/Flash Heal inbetween waiting for every other ability to come off CD for raid healing.
Really? I wouldn’t put much stock in what Jak says. That said I’d like to know why he says that (the specifics to be exact), and if it’s true, how so.
Also, it looks like disc is sinking in quicksand from being an offensive healer to a mana hungry ball of mush.
