No its garbage

this idea is cool af. But if it replaces Steed then we r out of luck when it comes to moving out of bad and avoiding mechanics. It probably shouldnt replace steed.

I repeat it again, I don’t think Divine Steed will be eliminated, but I have been saying it for years, we must have the Divine Steed that has the Tank specification, with immunity within the duration of the effect, plus a passive increase in our base mobility of 20-30% and that they fix the Aura of the Crusader so that it really feels useful and works within all the rooms be it PvE or PvP, it is not necessary that they remove it

man I’ve been reading what you’re saying for a while and it really doesn’t make any sense at all, everything you’re writing, mobility for ret is essential both in PvE and PvP, in both types of games the Ret has to run at columns, for example in arenas, in battlefields too, I’m not surprised that you say this kind of thing, it’s clearly appreciated that you don’t use Ret Paladin, and yes, it is absolutely necessary that they remove Divine Steed’s GCD, because many times Because of that lock, we have died, both in PvE and PvP, why? simply because we can’t move and we die in the area, we can’t even use our shields, removing the GCD from Divine Steed and all our shields is necessary and eliminating that absurd abstinence that has also led to us being killed

This is probably the toughest sticking point to work through when adding an ability for Paladin like Avenging Leap.

The main issue I see is Blizzard would not likely add a mobility option such as this alongside us having access to Divine Steed at the same time. I am sure they would claim it is too much maneuverability for Paladins and fair enough.

The only “quick” solution I had for this issue was adding in the Ret PvP talent Unbound Freedom into our general Paladin talent tree and buffing the movement speed increase component to 50%. This way Paladins have access to some type of movement speed increasing effect in the case where you are talented into Avenging Leap over Divine Steed.

The added utility of providing freedom with a movement speed increase to an ally is a nice bonus also. But I agree this is probably not enough and that’s why this is a tough sticking point to “solve”.

Perhaps if we had this improved version of Unbound Freedom alongside either Long Arm of the Law and/or Pursuit of Justice we could be on to something more appropriate.

Glad to see you like this idea though! Leaping is absolutely thematic for Paladins and if we were allowed to talent into this instead of Divine Steed, I would go from feeling like a knight in shining armor instead to a Crusader on a mission to deliver reckoning as Ret.

??? I’ve never said otherwise.

But, you have X to work with. You decide you best to spend it:

Now, being oGCD is a huge advantage; it provides greater immediacy, greater effective duration, and lower opportunity cost. But getting that instead of any buff of equal value is of course going to be less desirable in situation less dependent upon that immediacy.

Generally, you are less likely to be one-shot by the difference of being .5s late dashing around a column in arena or wall/hillside in a BG than to be one-shot by getting out of an AoE .5s late in Heroic or Mythic raiding or in upper M+ keys.

I never said putting the Divine Steed on an oGCD would be wasteful in PvP. I merely pointed out that it wouldn’t be a change meant only for PvP; instead, it would likely be yet more powerful in PvE.

Ret’s been among my top 4 played across 5 expansions, and tied for main in WoD. No, I don’t main it presently, but I’ve capped out M+ rewards on it, and have had it geared up for at least middling M+ / BGs every expansion.

I just don’t care to swap between a dozen characters to post anymore, so I just use this one alt on which I posted a fair bit back in ShL.

I’ve been pushing for oGCD Divine Steed (even over LAotL, which would have to remain a GCD-based mobility tool, or PoJ, which tends to be less thematic and ultimately less useful), so I’m not sure why you think I’m arguing otherwise.

That I can’t agree with. Some should be oGCD, but not all.

%HP shields, for instance, are simply outright better %HP heals, and yet most of those heals are already on the GCD, and may even have attached resource costs despite being CD-locked abilities.

Take a look around, observe what the cases are for other jobs, and remove the disparities in contextual value, by all means… but I don’t want to see Shield of Vengeance, for instance, lose the whole vengeance part just because it’s being saved for the fraction of a moment before an enemy ranged nuke as if it were Vanish or Shadowmeld.

I mean, paladins are literally “holy warriors”
