Avenging Leap - The Fix for Paladin Mobility 10.0.7

New talent choice node alongside Divine Steed.

Yeah, sure. Who’s going to pick Divine Steed over this? It’s not even a real choice.

again yall are over thinking this. we just need another small speed increase and a immunity to knockbacks
aka a hand of freedom pvp talent

I don’t think leaping fits the class fantasy.

A shield charge like prot warrior would be fine.

Rets could have a mini charge similar to that WW Tiger Palm talent Sky Reach or w/e.

This would be a cool addition but if this replaced steed I feel this could actually be worse.

Paladins was going to get something like that in legion. Turalyon in legion has that graphic when you and him fight a demon during a quest chain. It looked pretty nice honestly.

Issue is, not all 3 specs of paladins uses sheilds sadly.

Divine Steed vs Divine Barrier

Divine Barrier
25 yd range - Instant 45 sec cooldown

Charge to an enemy with a shield of Holy Light, dealing 10,000 Holy damage to it and healing all allies within 15 yards for 100% of the damage dealt.

This is too flashy and situational for me. it’s Divine steed but on a long cd and blah.

Just give me old school PoJ flat increase speed with a bonus 50% increase on judgement.

I would rather have a turalyon skill like he does in that quest where he leaps in the air and slams his weapon down then another sheild charge copy paste.

I would love to slam down on my foes in a holy fury.

One thing I really want to address on this post, especially in light of our class/spec receiving current attention for a rework, is that Avenging Leap is undoubtedly how I would love to see paladin mobility improved moving forward throughout the future of World of Warcraft.

I have mained Ret mainly in PvP for over a decade now. I am desperate for something new and fresh for paladin in the mobility department. A lot of us have fantasized about having an instant gap closer as a retribution paladin as we are the ONLY melee spec in the game that does not have this combat utility. Also, taking into consideration that Blizzard released a Hearthstone cinematic showcasing Liadrin using a LEAP similar to this idea, I felt this was finally the time to make the case for us to get it. How could it not be at least reasonable if Blizzard themselves have shown it first?

All of this to say, I can understand why Blizzard might be hesitant to add something like this in. I do believe it is appropriate, the right time and the right call to move in this direction for the rework. HOWEVER, if Blizzard does not want to move this direction, then of course the right call is to add abilities back to our toolkit such as pursuit of justice, long arm of the law, emancipate and burden of guilt instead. The idea of Avenging Leap is simply just new. exciting and fun.

I have already left my feedback response comment within the Paladin 10.0.7 rework thread saying the exact same thing here but I wanted to also address it within this thread.

We should be finding out very soon exactly what our improvements to maneuverability are going to look like. Either solution I have recommended is much better than what we have now currently with just Divine Steed.

For all you paladins out there like myself who want an ability like Avenging Leap, FINGERS CROSSED!

Is there an image of how liadrin does it? I am not a fan of her’s but if the graphics looks good…

I do not have an image but I do link the cinematic in my original posting but here it is again in case you missed it.

I wanted to ask you though, do you have an image or link for when Turaylon performs a leap? I have never seen that in game and tried to do a youtube search but found nothing. Is it during a quest somewhere on Argus?

I completely agree that paladins’ mobility needs to be adressed, but what’s with all the complaining about the divine steed? I’ve only recently come to learn that some ppl dont like it, but I honestly don’t understand. What’s wrong with it?

In pve it’s fine, but in pvp it’s on the gcd and you can get rooted on your horse which necessitates another gcd for freedom which feels like complete rubbish to play.

Oh that and we lost the uptime we had from shadowlands conduits and need to dump multiple talent points to get a weaker version of that.

  1. It’s on the GCD
  2. It doesn’t make the Paladin immune to snares/roots.
  3. It doesn’t have instant or Z-axis movement.
  4. It clips on objects such as boxes or doorways.
  5. It’s obnoxious with multiple Paladins covering boss mechanics or interacting abilities like Warlock Gates.
  6. It’s pretty goofy looking while indoors or other small areas, like being inside a ship for example.
  7. While most Paladins are Human and BE, not all Paladin races feel like they have a deep connection to their Mounts. (whatever RP reasons)
  8. It’s what we gained at the “cost” of PoJ, LAotL, and Speed of Light.

Same here. I would love Final Reckoning to turn into a Reinhardt (overwatch) type of leap.

Tyrael Charge from HOTS without the cast time

You missed the next line where I gave an alternative for rets?

Or are you complaining about holy paladins who don’t use a shield? I’m not sure holy paladins need more mobility.

He does this in the strike of the heart quest.

Although I do hope that if they make a player version they update the charecter model for it lol.

Kinda both, ret’s and legion artifact holy don’t have shields.

Apart of me is still effy paladin’s don’t have their own titan’s grip where all specs can equip a 2-hand and shield.

Also ret’s shouldn’t get charge anyways.

Replace pursuit of justice with an ability like skyreach for ww.
