well there is a huge part of your problem, you wanting to play a MMO as a single player game.
you wouldnt be accepted to any raid with your pvp gear in the first place, especially as a mage, so go ahead check raiding off your list of possibilities.
if I raid it will most likely be on my resto shaman TBH, this is more for farming gold and the PVP set is good for that
Not since Vanilla. In Vanilla some servers like mine had games that went for hours and you were likely to get over 1000 HKs if you were there for the whole thing, maybe more.
AV has been both sides rushing past each other since '06 Pre-TBC patch when the original honor system was replaced with Honor as a currency and you could just spam AV for a week and buy the full epic set and R14 weapons. Main exception here is the tendency of Alliance to like to back-cap in these games and thatās the only PVP that happens.
I can see why you would think that but it is 80 random players in a random battleground out of 50/80/100 games going. You are going to have a mix.
In my experience it only takes a small number of Alliance back capping to throw the game into chaos because Horde knows only one strategy and thatās to zerg rush Stormpike Aid Station. Iāve been in one or two games where they didnāt even kill LTs and Balinda. On the other hand you could be in a pumper group that wins before SHB and IWB even fully cap - cause thatās random battlegrounds for ya.
I was on horde yesterday they tried the same strat meta without change while alliance had 7+ roaming each game, horde stuck to trying the same meta

So far itās been a pretty random experience for me.
There will days where all my games are 10 mins or less, but Iāll have multiple guildies complaining about non stop turtles. Iāve also had days where it changed drastically game to game.
Games are typically faster just after honor resets and tend to get longer as the week goes by.
Everyone knows you go WSG for PvP, AV for honor/ranking.

Wasnāt there something about how much honor you get from killing a rank 11 as being different from the earlier phases?
bad players that dont understand the game get really upset about igby, i just focus it myself in a turtle and dont say much bc its gets people all worked up.

- I sneak down from Dun Baldar and singlely infiltrate Frostwolf Keep and tag both towers
Granted, I cant hold them against any defenders, but lololololololol at the number of Level 60 Druids and Rogues who cant seem to manage this.

Oh bless your heart. Clearly you didnāt play back in OG 2004-2005 WoW when AVs lasted DAYS. I donāt wanna hear itās not PvP when BATTLEGROUND is literally the thing youāre doing.

Yea haha, Iāve had a few folks now get upset at me when I dare propose skipping galv and focusing up on IBGY when Iāve noticed that Horde are getting fiesty. Like, we can kill him and his LTs with a 5-man, we donāt need the whole squad to go there and get wiped by the Horde team. I always say that AV is Hordeās to control, they have all the decision making power, but itās a much easier battle at IBGY than it is at Galv, so why take the risk?
I had one dude tell me how crazy I was and that Horde turtling there was rare, at which point the entire team ran smack into a Horde D squad and got wiped. It was just too perfect 
Anyway, max honour will always be to assume Horde will play ball and not fail, but Iāve had too many games where they donāt play ball or they wipe on Van, so I just play it safe. Iām looking forward to next AV weekend, but Iām going to miss half of it due to IRL commitments. I donāt need the honour, Iām just there for fun, but stillā¦

Horde has been full-team clashing and then losing in my games today.
I just got 9,000 honor in a game because horde full team clashed us, lost the clash, and then destroyed only one tower. We destroyed all 4 towers and killed Drek.
I honestly donāt know what theyāre playing at.

Thatās not completely accurate. AV isnāt a pure PvP battleground, itās more like an open world zone, but instanced. You can pure-PvE if you want toā¦ I wouldnāt recommend it, but you can.
in fact I did and you are right I should not have said āalwaysā but ever since rewards were added to AV it has been a PVE BG more than a PVP BG
It is sometimes 2x or 3x the honor if some actual PVP happens along with the objectives. You donāt even need to win those games to come out on top for honor per hour. Alliance has figured this out and maybe Horde will at some point.
Alliance does the commanders and Galv, this gives more honor than the Hordes rush to boss victory.
This. If the horde is too successful, literally no one will get rank 14. Itās no longer a competition of who gets the most. A static 500k with 30 minute games with one hour queues equals zero progress.
