So the AV meta on Anniversary is now officially a joke.
Each side runs from one end of the map to the other without stopping, drinks after killing some of the guarding NPCs, then can instantly kill the BOSS.
What is the point of the map?
Can you just have each side spawn in a boss room and see who can kill their side’s BOSS the fastest?
I don’t see a point in having to run for 5 min just to kill the boss. It seems like a waste of time.
If you can speed up the maps I’d appreciate it. I need my welfare R14 gear.
hehe av meta has been a joke for years and years now.
the only way they could make it better is to potentially award more hph from ab or wsg (which even with loads of hph wsg will still not be played much at all except for a few die hards).
course that then shifts the meta to those where you have to ACTUALLY PLAY THE FREAKING GAME… and nobody wants that.
besides its a few weeks past when the large majority have ranked to 14 so it doesnt matter anymore anyways.
Still better than playing in premades vs afk pugs in 2019, or TBC into Retail BGs where it’s all afking vs people with more resilience than you for 100 hours.
Not a new meta actually, this started at the end of Vanilla.
Lots of good ideas on how to buff AV or to get the other BGs in a rotation that makes sense for those still ranking. Doubt they will see it as worth the effort though.
Resilience, oof. They definitely succeeded with their goal of discouraging PVE’ers from participating in PVP with that crap stat lol – “may as well afk till I can get resilience gear”
In the pre-TBC patch in '06 almost the exact same thing in the Shadowburn Battlegroup. Rushing straight to Vann/Drek and killing them with someone yelling in /rw to run past everything. Maybe a little less obnoxious and not always as successful, but same thing.
This is the patch where you could buy every piece of PVP gear with honor points and players get a nice power boost thanks to pre-TBC numbers and talents. Your comment about welfare epics - this is literally when that term entered the game lol.
Possibly! During Vanilla 05/06 I was on an quieter RP realm, and the only people who queued up for battlegrounds were people who actually wanted to PVP. And that I did, through all level brackets
That was pre-battlegroup feature though. Everyone knew/recognized everyone before battlegroups. I used to respec sometimes between battlegrounds just to throw ppl off haha. During that summer (2006), I burned out trying to climb Rank, and ended up being recruited into a raid guild so I didn’t really observe what was happening in the PVP scene when this feature rolled out (and again, I was on an RP realm, definitely a different type of community there to begin with).
Quit crying about it, grab some friends, and go do something about it. The meta is entirely within your power to break, if you want to, it takes very little effort.
If you’re Alliance, take a 5-man and rally the troops to wipe Horde on Van. Wait until they engage and then dive in with fear-bombs, focusing their main tank. This will wipe them and send everybody back to Horde cave. Play from there.
If you’re Horde, you’ve got your work a bit more cut out for you but you have two options…
Get some more friends, go camp on Galv or hold IBGY. Wipe any Alliance you find and they will go back to SP. If you break them enough they will get annoyed and go wipe Horde’s offense. If nothing else it will result in more honour for your team.
Go grab the Druids west of North bunker and kite them into Van onto your team. Someone will tag them and then they will proceed to wipe your team. See #1 above. This one’s more controversial and could constitute gameplay sabotage, but folks used to do this to break the meta on Era back in November a lot and, to my knowledge, Blizzard didn’t do anything.
You’re not going to win any popularity contests for meta breaking here, but you can do it if you want to explore more PvP options in AV.
Either way, there’s a multitude of reasons this is happening, not just because AV can be exploited. The ranking system is terrible and the rewards are too strong compared to the current phase alternatives. Lots of changes need to be made if you want to dissuade players from trying to exploit the game in any way possible to make that grind faster. Blizzard is unlikely to make any changes here, let alone some of them, so your best bet is to just light a match and watch the world burn, if that’s your jam.
I have noticed folks tend to complain about this most strongly only after they’ve finished their own R14 grind. Funny how that is…
I played in 2019 stop trying to tell me it’s the same.
I’m doubting you played in 2019 at this point.
The wins are way faster now. It’s not the same at all. I was there, stop trying to convince me. You can’t tell me it was a certain way when I experienced it directly.
STOP IT
You have a bad memory or you are just confused. I have a great memory and I was there.
Stop it
I’m winning every game practically bud in less than 6 min. I’m not complaining it’s hard. I’m complaining it’s dumb.
Learn to read.
I don’t have a problem winning. I’m not an alliance player.
I went to play POE2 and got bored of it so I’m back.
I never had a meltdown. You are just a retail shill and have retail brain rot so you can’t imagine playing other games.
