AV Max Honor Myths Dispelled

Please keep your experiences coming, hopefully we will eventually completely unlock the mysteries of bonus honor in AV.

As an extra data point, I find that alliance premades frequently get one (but never two!) mystery objective bonus honor. Could it be a bonus for doing something first or doing something thoroughly (for example, extra bonus killing all lts/cmdrs/vendors/whatever in the base?)

Good post. Many ppl were confused about the whole mines thing and even on my discord we were not sure until about 2 weeks ago. So this is informative for most.

Btw, I believe that the extra honor for 30 min is only appliacable if you win.

For what it’s worth, I too have heard Mines is only worth honor when controlled, IF you win. Just hearsay, not conclusive by any means.

This is good info, I’ve never been in a 30 min game that I haven’t won since I started really trying to nail down the source of all the bonus honor

This could actually be the missing piece, my confidence in mines not providing honor is from a loss. In a loss it’s easier to isolate the variables which led me to the final conclusion that mines are not worth honor, but as we have suggested above, there is 2 unknown/unconfirmed 198’s out there that we haven’t accounted for. I will need to try to get a group to get a perfect win w/o the mines in 30 min to verify. This might be challenging because it is still a widely held belief that the mines are worth honor at the end and I am once again questioning if we have actually proven they don’t.

I read through all of this just because it was interesting to read. I never set foot in AV, but I understand you all are still puzzling over 1-2 mystery bonus objectives. One guy in this thread joked that AV isn’t real PVP, maybe because the focus is on all these objectives and not really about killing players. I wonder if 1-2 of the bonus objectives has to do with how many players you kill, and maybe that could be tiered like 198 for 100 player kills and 2x 198 for 500 player kills or whatever. Or could be a killed lots of players for 198 + ‘flawless victory’ type bonus for the other 198.

Just this idea I had that maybe killing lots of players might be a bonus objective in a pvp match… (I got grim reaper achieve over in legion, but nfc about AV or classic or vanilla stuff. :))

its objective based pvp. you have to pvp to contest objectives. you get more bonus honor for taking enemy objectives and defending your own. so you are flat out wrong.

interesting theory, but all of these games that don’t end in a 6-7 min rapid rush to the end victory for alliance end up a total bloodbath.

Which may add credence to your theory, but sometimes we get 8x 198 objectives at the end with both mines and sometimes we get 7x 198 with both mines. And always mass casualties if you are talking 30 min game.

It would be really nice to get a perfect game with no mines capped but someone always caps em “just in case” which is understandable, but frustrating.

Ok, just won a game where we had 2 mines and 1 tower not contested and only got 2 198 bonuses. This can only be the tower and the Vann kill which means the 2 mines did nothing for us, even with a win.

So my idiotic team that insisted I not cap SF and force a perfect game actually really helped me, I feel confident now that mines do nothing for you on a win or a loss.

You do get honor for capturing mines. You need to be in control of them when the match ends and you will get the honor for it then.

Logically, these are awarded after the match ends, so it must be something reversible or otherwise not determined until the match has run it’s course (like the 30 minute bonus: you don’t get it at the 30 minute mark because you still need to win). Mines fit the bill, except they are not confirmed by data. But this also logically rules out things like blood/armor/pelt/flesh turnins, launching assaults, etc. - because these things are final and could award bonus honor the moment they are done (and summoning Lok works exactly like that). So, what could it be? Killing Dun Baldar marshals before their bunkers burn? Saving an obscure NPC inside your base? Preventing other faction from assaulting your mine/specific tower/graveyard? Getting Mulverick or Ichman to your base before the opponent? Or is it just something bugged and triggering semi-randomly?

Another possible dimension might be imbalanced fights. I’ve seen other posts about 40 vs 10.

Or could just be something dumb simple as a glitchy something happening to cause double credit for 1-2 bonus objectives sometimes.

Pretty sure it’s not unheard of for there to be a bug or glitch or exploit in this game…

(I’m an IT guy irl and see computers and software do stupid things fairly often. :))

For those of us who’re grinding out the rep, I think this is significant. Some PuGs are so bad that I can’t land any HKs, let alone loot. I’ll take any rep I can get until I hit exalted. Then I’m out of AV until it’s fixed (if that ever happens.)
