AV- druid holding

Considering that Blizzard just hotfixed a bunch of WSG exploits, there’s probably some hope that the more AV issues get raised (whether through in-game reports or here) that something will be done.

What are the horde exploits in av. We always just play it like it’s supposed to be played. Offense on shgy choke point or defense at sfgy. Whoever wins those objectives wins the game. It’s actually a disadvantage being on the offense at your choke point because you guys respawn right there and we spawn in the cave until we win sfgy. Half the time though alliance are just mounted up and let you kill them.

That’s the problem you guys have in av. People that have just given up on trying still queing.

Yes, using the backdoor to the alliance base is the way AV was meant to be played.

I don’t even know what the backdoor to the alliance base is. We don’t play like that in any game I’ve been in. I do see alliance climbing the waterfall all the time though.

Is that not a backdoor?

And what would be the point in backdoor into the alliance base. You still need all the towers/bunkers. Otherwise van will 1 shot everyone

We cant help that a lot of Ally dont actually wanna play. From the start of every AV game I’ve done someone is already telling people to “DO TURN INS AND SUMMON ICE BOI” never seen a single horde person stop the shamans ever. I’ve also lost AV games where the Ally just zerg right past everyone, and half the horde just wants to keep pushing offense. You got a player mentality problem, not a game problem.

Ya we always summon ice daddy. That’s a given

Ppl need to realize that releasing Druids just means alliance will loose that much faster.

The place to summon ice boi is hidden behind a little hill. Druids are in the open. It’s rare if they even make it past spgy. Tree also bugs out quite a bit so kinda not worth the effort to summon

Yes because of the horde map advantage horde typically have complete control over both summoning locations. as horde control SHGY by that point in the game.

Even if alliance aren’t holding druids they’ll just die on the way to the summon spot anyways. Plus the tree is extremely buggy compared to the ice guy and usually doesn’t do anything anyways.

Move the druid summoning location to someplace north of SHGY around the lake and fix his bugs? You’d see a lot more tree summons happening.

This is not the same thing. The “Ice Daddy” helps horde push further and take over graveyards when they are stuck. The druids for the alliance just stall the game for 30 seconds while the horde takes care of them. IF the druids get to the field and IF the alliance leave SHGY to summon the horde will go in there and AOE etc the allies down and the horde still obsessively sitting at SHGY will then take SHGY and what do the alliance have? Oh, they are stuck at the choke now.

It would be like if the alliance took IBGY and the horde have no northern graveyard and are stuck at the IBGY choke. Now imagine this happening every game. What point would the shamans serve if the only thing they did was die? Nobody would be calling for the shamans but they would come out naturally. Eventually, the horde players would just want rep too.

I’ve been playing with my alliance in AV. I just hit exalted and will not go back. AB and WSG are way more fun.

I realized that even when trying the failure rate for the alliance is huge. All of AV weekend has been push IBGY, attempt to deal with a constant onslaught of horde coming back at full life after already killing them 3 times, while you are sitting there with no mana and half your health, and then have IBGY taken at like 15 seconds left.

Then I’ve tried to run down there to help only to be attacked every time. “Oh, it’s a 1v1” so I’ll dismount and fight, oh two seconds later another 3 horde stop and fight and I die, because a 1v1 in there does not exist.

SFGY is better to take first but that doesn’t work out often either. With very rare exceptions once SHGY is gone the game is done.

Anyway I played AV on this druid hundreds of times and I know how it is for horde (boring mostly) and I know about the backdoor and stuff. You don’t even know about that so I’m not sure what to say. More horde need to look at how it is on both sides.

Ice daddy sits there for 10 minutes like a moron too. We usually summon him just to get more rep or honor. Most of the problems you guys are complaining about is lack of coordination and working together.

The backdoor is so used the horde dont even realize its not even intended.

Every game we go north of shgy on the road, take stormpike, go across the bridge and take n and s. Hit the gy. Kill van. Never went any other way. There are a couple stealthies that troll n and s bunkers while we’re pushing but other than that 99% of the people push the front way

The real alliance problem in AV is that the honor per hour is so bad that there’s no incentive for our rankers to even queue it.

Even if every alliance in a typical AV were trying, 40 alts on 60% mounts in quest greens are going to have a really bad time against 30 rankers in PvP gear (the rest of the Horde being afk or similarly geared alts).

If that’s the case I don’t know what all the complaining is about. It’s not the hordes fault.

It’s not the Horde’s fault, but people self-flagellating for pre-BiS probably aren’t enjoying the experience, and that’s going to generate complaints.

Personally, I’ll just pay gold in raids to get the replacements for AV pre-BiS rather than torture myself like that. 1200g for a Quick Strike Ring is a bit much, but worth it if it means avoiding AV.

Sort of, it’s the map’s fault for allowing horde a strat that gives them a near perfect win rate, but it’s horde fault for using it.

Ultimately it’s the map’s fault but horde have the ability to fix their own problem as well.

How is the horde at an advantage based on the map.
