So I thought about that… but then I thought about how to get casuals interested. The idea is to get casuals very motivated to Q for the non AV games…
How do you get that? Carrot. The carrot is the honor from CE turn ins being very valuable; if they know they can turn in every single “Rotation” of BG’s then they’re more likely to play all the BG’s.
Just wanted to say I agree with this.
As I just said in another thread I think that some people who were encouraged to come back by the change were those who never got the ranks they wanted because they just aren’t team players, and that’s part of what we are seeing with the quality of the playerbase.
I hate saying this in a broad sense because I know people doing this ranking now who are very good at the game and who are team players, but this would explain a lot.
My response to that blue thread was to ask where the concern was for the PVP community part of an MMO in any of this. Blizzard showed NO concern for this at all. They only went over how this system is better for solo players. Which I think is a shame.
I do think giving a lot of honor for the “combined” mark turn-ins is a good idea.
True but I think there’s a limit to how much you want to reward players for doing nothing. I would rather not play to some extent than to get in a game with people that want a fast loss for the mark. At the end of the day, I think you want a system that rewards players for the effort in PVP.
Looks that way on the surface… but there is why I promote this system.
When a solo player looks at the BG’s Q and does not know about the whole system or all the rewards or best way to get honor, he’s likely to Q up for BG’s that look fun long as there are games going.
BUT if there are no games going no one will Q because its “DEAD”
The perception of a thing has a value of its own.
I get that for the sense of inclusivity, but who’s to say that players won’t abuse this system, promoting quick losses for the purpose of getting a mark, rather than trying. Again, I think it’s important to have a system that promotes efforts, not give away quick wins. If that hurts the inclusivity side of things, so be it. I’d rather have a system that doesn’t reward lazy bad players and crowd out those that try.
they already do this tho when they’re not instantly winning, that part I don’t think will ever change.
True but don’t give them a reward for it, at least make them fast lose three time
So this kind of system like any other will have things that can be abused; the present system is no exception.
What do we have to gain tho from this?
- More even distribution across all maps.
- More even distribution of skill across all maps rather than honor rankers being confined to AB / WSG.
Those are both massive.
I agree but I think the same kind of benefits could be achieved by increasing the honor gains of the turn-in, rather than decreasing the requirement. But either way I think this AV-only phase will dissipate soon enough and we’ll see how it’ll unfold but in essence I think the issue we’re facing are due to the player base more than anything. I’ll admit that the change in the system have caused for a vastly less competitive scene, but regardless, if the people advocating for changes to the system would be queuing those other BGs, it would be the start of a more balanced system, which I honestly think will happen sooner or later, as with the inevitable death of the PVP community lol
This works out the same no matter how you slice it. One way just gives the illusion that its faster, as a result the participation escalates.

Im laughing really, REALLY hard at all the usual suspects that want ways to FORCE all the people playing AV to queue for AB/WSGs so the premaders can get their pugfarm meta back.
Absolute peak comedy.
I give it a week, 2 tops before the AV premade addon resurfaces as per my original predictions.
I hope you understand: people wanted away from premades while being able to progress their characters. AV now offers both of these things.
AB and WSG now offer that high octane, ultra competitive environment where PvPers figure out “whos the best” just like all you premade runners always insisted you wanted.
The fact that AV has exploded in participation while NOBODY RUNS AB AND WSG ANYMORE tells any objective observer what the score truly was all along. People wanted to just queue up and PvP. They didnt want to deal with an endless stream of premades who dont need the gear, dont need the honor and not only dont care that theyre ruining the game for others but are actively looking for ways to do so because thats their objective.
This is the Mafia’s last gasps. Quick, someone bottle them.
Yes, lazy people afk in the caves. But guess what? At best they get 4 towers, Bal/Galv and Drek/Vann worth of honor. By never being near a single HK and never being in a fight they lose hundreds or even thousands of honor each game that others get.
Theyre wasting THEIR OWN time more than anyone elses. Theyre making theirnown grind take even longer but are just too stupid to figure that out. That puts it firmly in the “not my problem” column for the rest of us as Vann/Drek can be 5 manned.

Horde already has an AV Discord with queue syncing. There’s no addon needed outside of the Discord program and there hasn’t been one needed for years. It’s just that the premades “strategy” of rushing straight to the end is so bad (where the alliance loses but gets 3 times the honor) that nobody thinks that could possibly be a premade.
I’m a “usual suspect” but haven’t actually premaded since SoM, and I just don’t find “playing” AV while being surrounded by useless AFKers to be a fun thing. If that’s fun for you then awesome!
Hitokis idea of players who care about the other BGs queuing for those is a solid one though. I may pull out one of my geared toons to help out. I just need to question if I want to help out the Era community of players who like what I do, or just wait to see if the meta changes on its own which it probably will.
I’m wasting my time on the forums but not falling asleep in AV out of extreme boredom. I’ve got my 4 geared Era clones and can do whatever I want to in it already.
This - there is no community of players that like what you do. There’s ppl like the above who’s idea of PVP is to play AV all day long (which if that’s what your into, all the power to you)
Also idk but facing pre-made a as a small stack, especially in WSG is extremely fun. In classic and in era my friends and I would queue as 4-5 with a Druid fc and have very fun games vs ranker pre-mades. Again, some ppl like the path of least resistance, others like to actually have a challenge and maybe learn a thing or two, others call themselves PVPers and afk in AV and wouldn’t dare trying to win when they face a pre-made, finally there’s the r10 warriors like I saw today in AB that will charge and attack a trapped rogue when I’m 2 seconds away from capping BS. ALL IN ALL - a community that’s a little rough.

Also LOOOOL so many things wrong with this statement but I cba - please just stick to AV. You’re prob one of those ppl who afk at gy instead of trying vs terrible pre-mades that just fight mid or zug instead of using abilities and a brain for the objective.
Actually correction - I do enjoy griefing av rankers by forcing turtles and trying to actually play the game.

That seems to be mostly the case. It’s a shame. I think there are still a handful of people around though.
Agreed, been there and done that too.
I used to play my original Mootwo an extra 2-3 hours a day because despite my team trying I’d never get the honor the rest of the team did. So that would mean that time spent pugging and usually against a premade you’d get stomped but sometimes the team would just play well enough and I could still do the FCing and help us with a premade vs pure pug. These games were pretty great and you could feel the excitement in the chat from the other players when winning too. I’m sure the premades just sucked but that didn’t matter and you KNOW they were angry about losing to a pug. I know there are other druid players who do/did this all the time and I respect it.
Damn, yeah that would have been rough.

the heroes we don’t deserve along with the rogues that ninja cap in AB vs a premade (or a stronger team) when the rest of team wants to sit at farm/stables and “farm HKs” ( also lol cuz most of the time the 10 ppl “farming hks” get farmed by 3 good mages)

Did you know that Harland used to do this all the time in 2020 and he’d post about it too? So I’m naming but no shaming. Full props to him. I remember!

You are deluding yourself if you think the AV meta is because they don’t like WSG or AB. The reason AV is the meta now as it was in SoM is that it is the highest Honor Per Hour with the least effort. You can literally rank up doing nothing in total anonymity.
The meta isn’t to PVP in AV. The meta is to afk or rush for a quick victory with MININAL PVP.
I think most of the people in this thread that are disheartened with the current AV meta aren’t trying to “funnel” people to WSG and AB to be “premade victims.”
Most of the anti-AV meta people in this thread LOVE AV but want changes to encourage PVP in AV. By encouraging PVP and discouraging quick wins/losses, the lazy afkers will gravitate toward going afk in WSG/AB.
I literally just finished an AV that took 6 minutes and no one had more than 2 HKs. . .

I must admit, that hasn’t really been the case for me in recent days. I try to get people to play D and do some sort of clash, defend our base and it’s been pretty fun. There’s a couple people on each faction that are on the same page and we turtle the bridge with 2937485 5/5 entrapment frost traps it’s pretty lit.
Although my friend just played one - 5min 52s - 2400 honor for a loss so maybe I take it back lol

I enjoy that too, but that’s been the exception to the rule.
I literally just did 3 AVs in the last 20 minutes earning a total of 7500 honor, all Alliance losses. No more than 5 HKs for either team.
