AV Cave Rez situation

Sounds like it is time for Alliance to embrace SFGY then lol.

Most games are GY corpse farms at SH and SP GYs but Ive been winning AV consistently enough and pretty much all of my most recent wins involve SF in some way.

It is literally the counter to scorched earth. The only counter. It is just slow.

Maybe they fixed it and it’s taking alliance this long to realize it’s been fixed?

It helps, but alliance still have to take SFGY without letting SHGY soft cap then take IBGY through the cave rez if horde choose to defend.

You need to give this point up. This is literally no different now than it was 15 years ago. Alliance have to split forces to take SFGY. Always been true.

Sure but you have to factor in how much SFGY helps in taking IBGY vs the risk of losing SHGY trying to get it. Taking SFGY is not a magic counter to scorched earth.

#sigh. The fact that you actually think this shows that your tactical acumen is pretty lacking. At this point, I am pretty convinced that you just argue with any point made.
.
The fact of the matter is that you would have Alliance do nothing. Rush IBGY, can’t take it. Use SFGY, can’t take it. Turtle SHGY, eventually get overrun. That’s your only answer to literally anything anyone says. Note, you have ZERO proof to back up your claims on SFGY. Absolutely none. But that doesn’t stop you from spewing this trash statement in an effort to get a rise out of people. So I guess #golfclap. You trolled me and everyone else on this thread.

/shrug I agreed that taking SFGY makes taking IBGY marginally easier for alliance. What I’m pointing out is that it’s not the magic counter to scorched earth you are making it out to be.

Or just a weekend with switched sides every month so we can see how much the horde are actually just zug zugging harder vs how much of the issue is the map.

What these geniuses don’t look at is how the horde play. The horde leave you zero option but to beat them at their own game.

That means you gotta take SF and hold SHGY (and recap everything like your life depends on it) until you get a soft cap at FWGY which means you killed Galv, burned both mid towers and have IBGY in hand.

Ive been a part of several pug alliance teams that have managed this and it begins and ends with pvp and the quality thereof.

“Scorched Earth” isn’t some magical “win easy” button.

6 months or so and you get some arena fun

Did we ever get an actual detailed and specific definition of “sCoRcHeD eArF”? Or is it still “taking your foe’s territory while defending your own”?

A2 mod, or stand alone? If you are referring to the latter, condolences.

The actual strategy that most Horde games used to follow was a split team intercept while harassing SHGY until as many Alliance as possible are at SHGY then it essentially turns into a pin and win.
.
The only place scorched earth really comes in is after the pin and win at SHGY has succeeded and Horde is pushing Alliance north. At that point, it is pure denial of all objectives.
.
So I mean, ultimately “Scorched Earth” isn’t really all that descriptive of the actual strategy being employed.

It seems to be invoked the moment a map blamer cannot scrounge up an actual argument, most often that player being zyrius. It appears to be a catch-all term to jam in wherever an argument is lacking.

I mean, at the end of the day the BG is literally
protecting your own assets while attempting to take the assets of the enemy. That is the very point of AV.

It is fundamentally the inability to distinguish between a strategy to win and a strategy for maximizing rep / honor. Scorched Earth is most assuredly the latter and has no bearing on how Horde goes about winning the game. Honestly, it is just not very descriptive or generally useful in this discussion. Even if Horde stopped using Scorched Earth to deny all objectives, the win rate wouldn’t improve because it has nothing to do with how Horde wins.
.
Edit: And to be quite frank, I am not even sure Horde still does it. You would have to ask Elfblade. I haven’t AV’d in a couple months now.

Its terrible and needs to be resolved but it never will. I wish Blizz cared at all.

I mean they stealth fixed the SFGY rezing at ASGY, and that was the biggest map imbalance in AV.

It’s still not perfect but that change alone is pretty big.
