Because the two expansions that launched on Monday are the two most relevant, being the two most recent. It’s a reflection of the current WoW development team, structure, and philosophy.
Imagine if we were hanging out. We hang out every weekend, been hanging out for a few years. Every weekend you bring drinks. You used to bring Beer but for the past 5 months you’ve been bringing Water.
Then tomorrow you show up with a case of water, and I’m like dude?? Where’s the beer?
Would you not look at me confused like… uh, what made you think I was bringing Beer? I bring Water?
Also I don’t know why people jumped on me as if I accused you of a heinous crime. You made a release prediction, I made a light about it (most likely) being wrong. Crucify me now I guess
Let me ask you this. Knowing now that the last 2 expansions released on Monday, do you confidently still think Tuesday August 20th?
Unless Blizzard has divulged that their philosophy has shifted from the universal release on Mondays that has been the pattern as of late, I don’t see why they would break this precedent.
And I paid money for the deluxe edition with the expectation that I can play the expansion launch the weekend before the official launch since these launches have been on Monday. While Blizzard has the right to alter their official release date paying customers would have more of a reason to be upset if they change the date due to the implicit benefit of this pre-order perk.
Yeah autumn technically start September 1st (in northern hemisphere)
While the roadmap does have it placed between summer and autumn.
There is definitely a case for it being early September. 16 weeks of fated was considered to be pretty short for a season and I could see them adding a couple weeks which would push the xpac into September instead of August like my prediction.
Big doubt on anything after September though. That would be a very long fated season and start to not line up with roadmap.
Lining up with original release would be neat but idkkkk anything is possible I guess.
Having xp buff from anniversary during an xpac launch seems unlikely too. But who knows.
