Which is why its the only class since cataclysm to have 4 specs.
I dont believe we will ever see another 4th spec for a class.
Sorry to necro but didn’t blizz explicitly comment that Evoker would NOT be a tank well before their release?

Even if they did, they also said evoker wasn’t getting a third spec.
And that they had no plans for pirates themed content in the game.
And that they’d never pull the ripcord on covenants.
And that we weren’t getting tier sets back.
Essentially, they say a lot of things. But change when the community demand is high.
And personally? Man I want dragon tanks. Dracthyr getting warrior or something doesn’t count, that’s just a lizard fighter. Whether its a fourth spec or overrides Aug I don’t care, Aug is crazy boring for me (as someone who likes support/utility roles/classes) but if people wanna keep it then fine.
I just wanna be a dragon tank cause its super cool. The scalecommander hero tree is almost how I’d like it to function.

Yeah I don’t think the people requesting more classes for drakthyr quite understand that evoker, as a class, is about 90% draconic racials and they’re not going to be giving breath attacks, flying attacks, etc to those (and also that they’re not going to put buffet and swipe on a warrior intact).
So you are saying Dracthyr should be Monks?
Now that they’ve mingled with ither races, paladin, priest, dk, dh, rogue and warlock would be the only ones I’d exclude them from.
I’ve said it since the class was announced that lore-wise, black scale dragons made sense to be a tank spec since it’s of earth, but the went it made it something goofy

Ah yes, working to make sure they saw that the tank supporters are just trolls and now we don’t have to worry about getting one.
Trolls? Making Aug a support spec was the biggest troll job ever

Hmmm, well this is certainly an interesting one. I get the sense that the overwhelming view on aug is negative. Though this saddens me because I really like the role of a support spec. My gut feeling is that Blizz would always have planned an alternative version of aug in case the spec had a negative reception from the community.
I think that the comments suggesting that tank players often swap between different classes based on their current power and that adding an extra tank spec would be an inefficient use of resources is probably the most compelling argument I’ve read. In my experience, this really is what I’ve seen.
I really, really like the theme, feel and spell art for aug, so I hope that it stays in the game as some role not too far from its current form.

Augmentation is certainly strange. I like that they experimented, but I agree with the sentiment that, like Discipline and its years of reworks, by its nature Aug is destined for a Sweet Balance Rollercoaster.
I also would love a drac tank spec, and while it would certainly make overall class balance harder, it’s also a lot less work than making a whole new two or three spec Drac-only tank class.
That said, Evoker isn’t the only class that needs role proliferation. SOD demonstrates that new tricks for old dogs aren’t off the table, and plenty of other classes currently suffer from a startling lack of versatility (ahem, Demon Hunters).
New specs are a winning proposition.

No. I like it because it’s a support spec and that’s really cool and interesting, and something I’ve wanted for years…
That would be fun but we know how BLIZZARD feels about fun…Blizzard is like the principal from Matilda but worse.

Except its just wrong. Only the top 1% are flavor of the month. The bulk of tanks are also dps and want a tank spec to fall back to for 5man content.

Not everyone wants a tank spec. I enjoy Aug as is. Just would be nice to see the logs fixed so it gets the correct dps credit for the support it gives.
