Oh yeah forgot that one.
- Pay 2.00 extra a month to post another 20 items.
Oh yeah forgot that one.
Imagine thinking the economy is just the subsection of the economy you care about.
They should just break the addons. Then if people want to list 1000 items just go for it but you don’t get an advantage over people who don’t use or can’t use those addons.
While I’m all for finding a way to combat abusive goblins, this just feels like another way for Blizzard to increase player engagement minutes. Since Blizzard is using player engagement minutes as one of the measurements to indicate the health of the game for shareholders, the more minutes players are logged in the better. If something that took 30 minutes before now takes 45 minutes, then that’s more “engagement” even if all you are doing is standing in the AH.
I think you guys would know your API and the throttling behavior is your call. Don’t let the AH 1%’rs make it worse, balance this thing out to stabilize performance for everyone.
On that note… you might want to poke at the addons that are driving the bulk of the poor behavior. Your clients should not be able to impact the overall auction house performance - throttling is just fine to mitigate this - but you might want to see if there’s a better API to give the clients what they want too.
I’d also love to see a disincentive to bulk buying things to mark it up and turn a buck, but that’s just me being grumpy.
“Market makers” trying to justify why they aren’t parasites sucking wealth out of the economy is an age-old tale, lol.
This isn’t about addons.
The throttling happens regardless of whether someone is using an addon.
I pay the same amount for the 3 extra retainers and my sub as I pay for a monthly wow sub so /shrug. Legacy account ftw.
And if blizzard started limiting posting per account you know they would charge money to increase the cap.
Or they could just add auction queueing to the base ui and most people wouldn’t even NEED an addon. For most people that’s all TSM/Auctionator/Auctioneer really is, saves you from having to right click every item you want to sell
If they broke the addons they wouldn’t need to do this throttling though.
don’t feed the idea train
It’s effecting players not using addons aswell
Well, if they improved the auction house and their servers, they wouldn’t need throttling or to break anything or hurt anyone. Instead, they could benefit everybody. That would be an infinitely better solution than this one.
I mean sure yeah if you honestly don’t see how slashing the amount of goods on the AH is going to drive prices up to stupid amounts especially for non-current items you didn’t pay attention in economics class. let those of us who understand how basic markets work do the talking, this is like LFR raiders commenting on mythic, insane.
Absolutely yay. The AH got so annoying that I would just vendor anything that wasn’t making a significant amount of gold or was even remotely annoying to repost.
Sorry maybe that’s laziness on my part but if I never see 20 pages of single items marked up 0.5% I’ll be happy.
Seems like it would have been simpler to
A) remove the ability for addons to scan the AH
B) prioritize auctions which are manually created for sale first
C) delay mailed back items from the AH by 1 hour to prevent immediate mass cancellation / reposting
D) take some more inspiration from GW2 or FFXIV who imo both have better auction houses.
That isn’t the only problem they are trying to solve. They are trying to fix the imbalance that enables 5% of the players to have 90% of the sales.
This is the logical decision. It costs money yes, but you keep more of your player base playing and happy.
No they aren’t? Anyone can go out and get that many items. If you’re a bit lazy, you won’t have as many. Simple.
If they broke the addons then the only people who would post anything are the people who can spend all day sitting there posting by hand.
The people dedicated to making gold in this game aren’t going to stop making gold because the addon is broken… they already have a second account to post things or are already devoting tons of time to playing the AH.
If the goal is to make the average user competitive then you don’t make changes that incentivize spending more time than the average user has. You give the average user a set of tools that the other people are already using.
Want to get rid of TSM? Put sale rate / market value / etc. into the base auction house and let the base auction house post in batches.
why is that a bad thing though? most people dont’ want to be bothered stocking the Ah with mats/transmog/enchants/etc. let the people who enjoy it do it, and let them compete with each other to keep prices competitive. less selection is never good, this isn’t going to encourage players to post more, it’s just going to ensure those who post can’t post as much.
