I can understand players on both ends of the spectrum, and it makes pretty much any decision unpopular to a segment.

A bit early for this sort of comparision, but:
Zones = tie
Artwork = Shadowlands
Story / Premise = WoD
Levelling = Shadowlands
Raids = Shadowlands (so far)
Dungeons = WoD
Class design = WoD
Professions = Shadowlands
Extracurricular “to-do’s” = Shadowlands
Definitely closer than one might think.
sort of. Challenge modes were gear locked, so while they certainly laid the foundation for M+, they did function differently.

The thing about WoD is that demon hunters weren’t in the game, which makes WoD quite better compared to Shadowlands.

For me MOP was the true end of World of Warcraft
As far as WoD. It’s funny that so many people raged against WoD and yet for Shadowlands its the place almost everyone goes to start levelling alts lol

Shadowlands, should have been the WoW victory lap but honestly for me far too little meaningful content and the covenants just made the game that much smaller.
I already cancelled my sub. Its going to be months until any new content will be playable for the general public so whats the point.
Simply far too little, for far too many years. I don’t see any point coming back until maybe Christmas or spring 2022 at this point

WoD was way better imo but i’m biased, I just wanna hop on and pvp not worrying about all this covenant bs or gain power from x/y/z… I want to have my PVP only alts who hit max level and just casually battle ground for my - pvp only gear, back when PVP gear was considered the best for PVPing… There is just so much useless chores now I can’t even be bothered, I’d rather hop on and play some league or something else… I don’t want to invest 100 hours of pve to feel ‘good’ about pvping on my pvp alt. Especially because I specifically had to re-roll a character and pick her covenant to play the campaign with my wife or else she wouldn’t play at all, which is sad because she use to enjoy playing way more…
Not only that but the covenant system is busted, there’s just clear ‘good’ picks for covenant abilities and just obviously ‘bad’ ones, it’d be nice to just hop in and not worry about it, use your own know-how and not some cheap gear check -oneshot- mechanic to be relevant. Some of the covenant spells are just plain NOT fun to use, i have several alts in fates currently and only 2 of my characters do I enjoy pressing that covenant button…

and a host of other annoyances, in no way shape or form is SL worse than WOD.

Yes we had have a lot of things to do do they where dailys and WOrld quest? yes.
but context is important too, Isle of thunder, Isle of Giants, Suramar, those where goo unistance content, where you felt you worked towards something that wasn’t gear, in suramar you saw how the shal’aran improved as you saved the seed, and slowly you worked towards making that little tree that save the Shal’dorei.
Not to mention the city and how slowly you wuere unlucking more quest to the future liberation of the city. Dailys and WQ are good, but now we lack context, all stays the same on the out world. Even the Argent tournament change as you grinded the rep.
Mythic+ creates an elitist mentality.
This is because in the old days you would just do the mythic dungeons to farm your valor points, and the difficulty cap was the same, with mythic+ there is a skill gap between difficulty levels, you simply not going to be successful at higher mythic+ levels if you don’t have a higher raider IO score etc.

Why would they ? They all consider us Maw Walkers the heroes of the Shadowlands .
None of the covenants are enemies with each other and all of the issues have actually been internal ones for each of the covenants even the Maldraxxus / Bastion conflict
No 9.1.5 they will add You Tube and Facebook to their wow Twitter integration so that we will now be able in game to access Youtwitface
Surprisingly, some of the best Wpvp occurred during WoD for me. And it was so simple to gear up alts… for pvp tho. My raid guild disbanded soon after due to guys talking trash to the GMs wife in raid one night. RIP TAUREN TWERKERS/ Ysera!

And in my opinion Mythic+ ruined WoW. I use to spend hours in dungeons on my main and many alts, I barely do any now, only ones I have ran are for the covenant quests and have not been back.

…and some still think it does. Sad they don’t see the hook, cause I mean there is no bait on it. This is all we are going to get. Empty hook in the mouth, endless debates over potential.
WoD was better for sure…though it did bring us the selfie patch and nearly ripped the reigns off our flying mounts AND it caused folks to quit and never come back, but sadly it was better.
…and yes, I know that is a hook in my mouth, I’m just choosing to ignore it for the time being. Heh…kinda makes me look stoopid rugged, wish it was a mog now.
