If anyone has said this, they’re wrong. Nobully has tried to claim this was my point, but there are different methods for attracting new players or getting returning subs.
No part of the Trading Post is meant for that. It’s meant to get people to sub more often in months that have traditionally been dwindling in this regard. It’s the exact same reason they’re doing more frequent updates.
Or even just to play more often, since that is also a metric they track.

That’s what gets me. This is literally just free cosmetics for changing none of your habits. This won’t retain anyone either.
It’s all about MAU’s, getting people to log in once a month to get their choice of free stuff.
I’m okay with that. My rogue looks great with those flails, and I’ll get the staff next month.

The whole design of it is infuriating too. Intentionally not being able to earn enough currency monthly to buy everything on the vendor is horrible design. It’s the problem they always have with systems. “Here’s 5 brand new things and you can only choose 2. Why? Because that’s fun!”

You’re objectively incorrect about this. This is not the only, first or otherwise game to do this for this purpose. SWTOR does it as well, and it’s great there, though the shop is much more expansive and designed with MTX in mind, that being the primary difference.

Yeah, the person who’s so emotionally angered by free cosmetics in a game they’re quitting says that.
I like it. I already have the mount, but over time if theres something I see that I want ill get it and continue on playing the game like I did before it existed.
