Yeah, see that one boggles my mind. The people who just re-purpose other people content. Like, the people who take Game Grumpâs stuff and make âBest ofâ videos even though the Game Grumps already do that. It just, to me as an observer, looks like people making money off of another personâs content when they add nothing of their own to it and JUST re-upload footage.
The thing with asmongold in my opinion, is that he was very toxic in the past. He was very aggressive. He did things that a lot of people would consider spiteful, or rude.
Thatâs the old asmon. I didnt personally like that version either. I fully understand, nor do I blame people for not liking asmon for his past actions.
He is an entertainer though. Which means not everyone will like him. He has chilled out a lot through the years.
Him getting carried through some content (like RBGs, gladiator, wow classic warlock getting carried) are things Iâve noticed other people dont like about him, but itâs not like those people who where carrying him were oblivious to what they were doing.
He has come along way. He has become more reasonable and far more tolerable than I had thought before viewing him in the past few months.
He does lengthy thought out discussions on a lot of things, from both in game to out of game. His opinion does not align with my opinion everytime, but I enjoy long thought out discussions. There are few people who do what he does.
He is a very good entertainer, he has been toxic, he had also been reasonable. The mans not perfect. I dont think (as stated before) he needs to be thanked or put on a pedestal, but a lot of the hate for his current form is really just bias from his past actions.
I dont think thatâs wrong, but itâs also not right. The good news is, the people who bring up the past arent affecting him. But thatâs enough from me. Iâm starting to sound like a fan boy just off my observations lol.
For Asmongold, there was the /Spit Campaign of his and Project 60, one of which had a huge negative impact on a server and the other which displayed how childish he is to mobilize his viewers to perform.
The fact his fans tend to attack any video that dismisses him. That anyone who doesnât share his opinions is morally bankrupt (heâs gotten into it with nearly every other big time WoW streamer at this point).
The fact there are long Reddit threads discussing his toxicity:
Not once has he ever condemned the toxic actions of his fanbase, nor has he ever attempted to reduce how cruel they are to people. There are far larger YouTubers with even larger communities that will condemn the actions of toxic jerks.
Asmon, meanwhile, sets them on a campaign of spitting on people for store mounts because his opinion is law.
This isnât the Overwatch forum, so I wonât get into xQc here. But when he managed to screw over his team a few years ago because he got himself banned practically the first day of the OWL season, thereâs a reason heâs a problem.
And this isnât in the past, unless the past includes late 2019. He as a person has not changed; heâs adjusted his persona a bit, maybe divided the âAsmongoldâ as the jerk and âZachâ as the more down to earth dude. And while the competitions he holds are absolutely wholesome and respectable, heâs still a beacon of toxicity for anyone who wants to bully and torment people to point towards as a reason to justify what they do.
Thanks for the well put response. Iâll be looking more into it later when Iâm not on my phone. I find it respectable when people take the time to dig up stuff. Imo I like being challenged on my views and beliefs. To me, its fun.
Ironically I also liked xQc, maybe Iâm just a toxic person too (I think it was kinda messed up he got banned for using an emoji that everyone on twitch has access too. But we can save that for another time). Not sure what draws me to those people. Kind of reminds me of my high school hockey days in a way. High hype, high intensity energy just vibes with me.
