Why Do You Talk Like This? It’s odd To Capitalize Random Stuff.
Also, Freemiums lead to Premiums. I’ll pay my $15/month.

Worst idea I’ve heard. There’s no free lunch. That just means an even more game breaking cash shop than what already exists in retail.
One of the draws of WoW is that it is not the cash shop pay to win garbage that most free to play games are.
By having a sub cost it allows the pay to win aspect to be off the table and not be a consideration when they add things to the cash shop and can leave those things cosmetic and not game breaking. We will never see ‘run MC only $0.99 per run !’ when we log into WoW.
And that’s how you get microtransactions. Keep that crap in retail.
Classic is already free anyway*
*with the purchase of a retail subscription
No.
I don’t want f2p trolls ruining the place.
The ones who can grab mommy’s credit card are bad enough.
Could you imagine if you could only do X amount of quest each day unless you paid extra?
Now this is the dumbest thing I’ve read today…
It’s still early , give it time dumber things will appear.
What they envisioned was making money. That is the true purpose of any for-profit concern, after all. They’ve just made money by making a game people were willing to pay for.
Either scrape up the sub money (and yes, I know very well how tricky that can be), or make enough gold playing Retail to cover a token.
My economy teach once said…
There is no free lunch.
if we don’t use the subscription then we move onto a cash shop based system. any new mount/pet/toy introduced will most likely get put there, reputations will reward very little, all lockboxes will require a cash shop key to open, dungeons/raids/BGs that require a “pass” purchased from the shop might pop up. holiday event items will only be available via shop, cash shop only transmog.
the sub started out as $15 USD a month, and has not changed since 2004, it has worked for them so why would they want to change it?
Horrible idea. Just take a look at other Sub-free games. No ty!
When Blizzard does this-- it’s a firm indicator they are sunsetting the game and are about to take the servers offline.
As a consumer…no. ‘You get what you pay for’ isn’t a meaningless axiom.
Well, I wouldn’t go that far. Star Wars: The Old Republic, Everquest 2, Lord of the Rings Online have all had free-to-play modes for years.
Of course, they all also have extensive “pay real money to buy this” aspects, which I really don’t want in Classic.
True-- are you prepared to drop cash to unlock quest to advance the story? F2P is just the first step in sunsetting games and allowing them to run on rails.
Nice try Mr Sanders, but shouldn’t you be more worried about your presidential campaign right now?
They already do, just farm gold in retail for your token, pay for your play with token, then you are playing for free.
Not really for “free” since you’re still paying with your time. But I see your point.
it’s free to you-- someone else paid an extra $5 to basically pay your sub for you. Blizzard is making more money off you than the guy who purchased the token for gold.
Not saying it’s right or wrong.
