Ancient PvPer here (haven’t done more than dip toes since, like… Cata?), and I’ve been glued to Blitz lately. It’s been fun! I hit 1900 last night, then…
… then today happened. It was back to back to back to back losses, and all games I felt I was doing awesomely in: top kills/damage, top flag returns, etc.
Anyway, I saw you can queue Blitz with healers. Is that the name of the game? Or do people climb pretty consistently without 'em? Because I can’t tell if it’s horrible luck or what.
look at this Druid trying to convince everyone he’s some kind of super god at playing a class no one has ever seen him on before. I can’t even begin to wonder how much his rating costed him this season. This Druid and ret paladin are hilarious. They buy their rating and then come in here like they are gods of the bgs
If you perform X better than other people at your MMR you’ll climb. Might take 50, might take 500 games. (I was 2-6 at one point, now I’m whatever I am, but positive WL, 2200ish MMR). I could lost my next 5 matches or win my next 5, it’s mostly RNG with minor-major differences made with how impactful I’ll be in each match.
That modifier is further increased by whether my class/spec can have more impact, beyond doing okay on it, i.e. if you play Rogue and are good at 1v1 or CC capping.
Duo queuing with a healer can also help this, but it also has to be a healer that’s good for FC maps to get the full benefit.
So, no you don’t ‘need’ to duo to climb, but it will naturally help if the healer is good, and meta.
Appreciate the input! To be fair, I’ve only been at it for a day. Got a winning streak, back to 50/50… which is still not very satisfying, but not falling below 1900 anymore. Just trying to get back up to speed on things.
You definitely do not need to duo queue. Of the 5-6 dps on each side in a game, a max of 2 of them are duo queued. That’s just as true of R1 lobbies as anything else.
If you have a friend who is a great healer, that’s great, but not having that isn’t the thing that stops one from getting high rating.
Hey, I’ve been top of practically every game I’ve been in! But I work the next two nights and have coursework to get done. Hit me up if you wanna give it a go!
R1 BGB S1 - I accidentally Q’d a single (1) game in like 200 with a healer thinking I was queued as a different spec.
That said, it is categorically an advantage to duo Q. The most dangerous/worst case is duo Q’ing as healers - this is busted and easily exploitable and should not be allowed.
But hey no one wants to heal so we give them all the participation goodies (why give them ‘healer strategist’ starting at 1800 Blizz? Why not just give it to them for logging in and make them all feel like mommy’s specialest person?)
Nothing is changing here so yes would recommend duo Q’ing - as double healer if possible
as someone who duo qued from 1800-2100 at the start of the season I can state with accuracy that duo is the only way. Until inflation hits, solo ques are hard. Keep your mmr up and wait for a win streak.
Whoa whoa! Ok I had no idea this was the case. I really need to try get a streak of 4. I usually stop after 2 as I’m nervous I’ll start a losing streak.
Biggest problem is the dang queue times to even do 4. I swear I’m at 25-30 min queues though the timer shows 15m.
There’s an asterisk on that. Read the article. The asterisk basically says that they have not confirmed that since Shadowlands or so. It may be the case and it may not be the case which is why I think players tend to cut off the losing streak at 2 or 3 in a row and take a break.
