I’d be incline to believe such a claim if it weren’t for all the other problem they have with targeting surfaces with other abilities (such as AOE) and the general poor quality of targeting of any cannon like vehicle or turrets.
You’re lying to yourself thinking that it’s a deliberate nerf. In fact in Zereth Mortis, our friendly DH could access way more treasures than others before the flying became accessible, simply because those nerf you’re talking about are not a real thing.
The game has an issue with distance/camera/targeting when it has to do it on different levels of height and it’s been like this for a long time.
The first nerf came a couple of weeks after release of Argus, when several classes were suddenly no longer able to jump up to those ledges that apparently devs wanted them to have to get to by walking around the long way. There have been a number of nerfs since. Things I was able to jump to in cat form before ZerithMortis nerfs I no longer am able.
Quite possibly all those other complaints are due to the brand new spaghetti code that was required to nerf everybody’s leaps and closers because they were having too much fun and it had to be stopped.
AoC will go the route of New World. I’m not purchasing anymore MMOs. I’m done wasting money on momentary “hype”.
All WoW needs to do is return those MoP/WoD PvP vendors and WoW will permanently stay on my radar. Gotta admit though, 3 expansions of kooky PvP systems and I’m down to farming herbs 5 days a month for a wow token that I use for forum time (It’s sad that I can’t play anymore).
So yes, I don’t even play WoW outside of a MoP PvP server - I just don’t feel like dealing with it anymore. Consistently having to wait 2 years in tandem for MoP/WoD PvP vendors is ridiculous when they should have removed rating tied to gear in 9.2. It would have been a proper display of good will walking in to the next expansion. Period.

Devs of the past explained why a rank locked PvP gearing system was bad for the game when they phased it out. I guess Ion figured they didn’t try hard enough, so he’s doubled down on it repeatedly. The worse participation gets, the more gear ranks we are seeing.
AOC is shooting for a very niche “I like how MMORPGS were back when they were hardcore 8 hour a day second worlds” audience.
I actually doubt there will be much overlap with WoW players who enjoy modern WoW. It will probably entice a lot of the classic community, all 3 dozen or so of them left.
That being said, I am really looking forward to it.
AOC won’t be out for years at least if it even comes out at all. WoW is in zero danger from this game right now.

By the time that game comes out we will be on unreal engine 10 and 30 other MMOs will also be out.
Another crazy thing is that you can actually buy in game cosmetics and it’s bloody expensive.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but Ashes will never launch.

We all know exactly why the gearing worked out this way…They sold plenty of WoW Tokens off of the PvP boosting.
WoD ended like 6-7 years ago; that’s a near decade of my life waiting to spam random battlegrounds non-stop, from beginning til end of an expansion, with equal ilvl conquest gear like in MoP/WoD.
I just hit that point between giving up/cunning where I threw my hands up and said **** it! Blizzard wants to sell WoW Tokens? Sure, I’ll buy them…with gold (for forum time). They’ll get a cold hard cash subscription when they return to doing what’s right for the players. Until then, I’ll purchase Tokens for 1 month forum time increments; and I’ll play on a private MoP server until the MoP/WoD PvP gear returns to retail.
I think they’re just going to build it and then sell it off to the highest bidder like Microsoft or Amazon.
They don’t have the staff to run a massive MMO game.

That’s the least of their problems. Their scope and feature list are untenable.

There is literally gear in ZM that drops with a built in jump feature and the targeting on it is finicky and capricious at best. It has nothing to do with rocks that your baseline jump can’t clear. Those are different things.
Take another example, how come they never did anything with the mechanics of the final encounter of The Occulus dungeon/Eye of eternity in Wrath? Or trial of the champions?
No content like this was ever release for any dungeon/raid afterward, why is that do you think?
How come they never expended on mounted PVP or PVP while flying? Those are quite coherent with the game fantasy and actually have roots in WC3 units. It would have been an interesting branch to explore, why didn’t they?
And see I’m not original by saying that,I’m not suggesting something wild or revolutionary, at some point those ideas were discussed at their offices and they were thrown out…
My opinion is that the game doesn’t deal well enough with such metrics for them to be comfortable to release important content with this type of gameplay.
While that seems to be a goal of game design in general, I think it is as much or more due to Ion’s history and apparent belief in the PvE gearing system as the right thing to do, rewarding the hardest working and most skilled players with an insurmountable advantage over noobs and scrubs who used to subscribe to spam bgs, but no longer do because changes that turned bgs into a currency dispenser for players who need to upgrade their l33t gear mean it’s not fun anymore.
I think they notice when people at the top of the ladders leave and try to throw them a bone - a new title, more gear ranks. I’m not sure they notice the many average players who have left. Maybe they feel that “those casuals don’t know what they want, but they’ll be right back.”
So they nerfed several classes’ leaps in Argus because of Zerith Mortis? Come on. You haven’t been paying attention. The game didn’t start in patch 9.2.
I really don’t know what you’re referring to here.
If what you’re saying is they used some item people had to grind for as an excuse to nerf closers, that sounds exactly like something they might do. Here, have a water swimmer mount.
Mounted and vehicle combat is what he’s talking about.

So it’s another Star*Citizen, then?
Did they stop creating buggy mounted and vehicle combat? Absolutely not. They love creating those because they’re fun to design. Not so fun to troubleshoot. The game is still full of that, old buggy vehicle quests that don’t work right, vehicle quests where your vision is obscured so you can’t see what you’re doing. But they don’t put it in instances anymore. It took long enough for them to learn not to do that.
It will do nothing of the sort.
Ashes will be just another game in a long list of games to join the pile with Warhammer and Wildstar. (That list could probably also include several consoles and world events that wow has outlasted/survived through)

On the one hand I blame Ion a bit, but on the other I wonder if he is having his strings pulled by higher ups who want our game milked as hard as possible.
I’m really exhausted from waiting for them to realize PvP is a totally different gaming environment. Advantages in a PvP environment do nothing to display skill (it’s the age old “bringing a knife to a gun fight”).
/Sigh I’m distraught when it comes to current WoW. I know it’s banable to say I play a private server…what else am I to do though? I want to play WoW, and in an PvP environment I want a fair playing field with and against everyone. I’ve no other choice but to leave retail and return to iterations where integrity was still core.
