I already got it for free.
I dont mind them selling it now
You thought you were getting a Rolex? Oh no, you got a ROLDX. It is a cheap knock off. I am surprised it did not break the first time you put it on.
Blizzard never ceases to amaze us with their greed and fomo practice. Thank you for showing us the future of the trading post blizzard.
The WoW cash shop is tame compared to the D4 cash shop.
For now.
They do cycle stuff back in. Even a ‘returning’ section in the TP.
Weird how they didn’t need that before Wrath of the Lich King, the same time Activision acquired Bliz- Oh.
I hate activision as much as the next person but let’s not pretend that growing technology costs and adjustments for the rising costs across all markets didn’t have more to do with this than ‘Oh it must be activision, that’s why every other MMO has a cash shop’.
Times change. The company could very well have raised sub costs. Instead, they put in an optional cash shop. Is it a great thing? No, no it isn’t. But it is by no means the most predatory practice in the market. And it has kept the company from raising sub costs for the game. Let’s not make this in to some weird conspiracy. Don’t like the cash shop? Cool, Don’t engage with it. Same thing with any part of the game. Don’t like it. Don’t engage with it.
You hate activision yet you write paragraphs of damage control for them presumably for free. Curious.
When you consider someone making calm rational arguments as ‘damage control’ for a company you may need to take a step back and think about some things. Hope you have a wonderful day.
honestly, this is blizzard’s way of selling tendies in the shop without selling tendies in the shop.
instead of just selling the tendies, blizzard is putting trader post items on the shop.
so you can save your tendies and buy the trader post stuff with cash anyways.
I wish we could set the color of the mount ourselves. I don’t play much by the time it changes to silver but I much prefer the silver color.
Cool, this is all making total sense where this game is going now. Thank you.
You have some serious mental gymnastics there, my guy. And for someone that is claiming others are doing damage control, and hates Activision, and yadda yadda, you sure do still give them money to be able to post here. How about taking a moment to look in the mirror.
I mean, why not? It’s all cosmetic anyways.
Maybe I’m the odd one out here, but I only usually buy 1-2 things per month off the trading post, and that’s if I actually like anything on it. Lot of neat concepts and different stuff, but aside from their cloak + bandana pairs I’m not using many Tenders.
And the lowering costs as technology got better and more efficient? Weird how I only hear about one side of the developing technology narrative. Remember when televisions and computers were insanely expensive? Now their household items that a vast majority of families have in the West.
I remember when I bought a game and got everything for that price; it wasn’t pieced mealed over multiple payments…
Still affects the development and monetization of the game.
I have no issue with it being sold in the shop for people to buy it if they want it or need it, my issue still lies with it being one mount instead of three with the alternating color because there should be the alternating one, a golden one and a white one like with the Warden set.
Oh, I remember those times too. Thing is, my WoW sub cost hasn’t increased since those kinds of games were being released when I was a kid and DLC had only just emerged into the online gaming scene. If Blizzard wants to toss crap at people to buy and people buy it, and my sub cost stays at a whopping $15 a month in a world where buying a “complete” game is usually now $90-120, I’d rather that than the alternative.
There are plenty of games that serve as great examples of piecemeal content you pay for each step of the way. WoW really ain’t one of those unless you really need to have every single store cosmetic on top of the variety of cosmetic things added in every major patch cycle.
You’re right, it does, and people typically don’t like to consider the positive side of how it affects development and monetization of the game, just the negative side.
Bear in mind, this is coming from the perspective of somebody who hates microtransactions but has seen how absolutely disgustingly predatory these actually are in other games, and how they really aren’t in WoW.
The box price and cosmetics have.
Were those recent layoffs positive?
Yeah I am really hoping that is something that changes someday.
