Ascendance Model Update

It’s a clown. The new shaman power up form is going to be turning into a clown. At first I was thinking maybe it might kind of work for Zandalari trolls, but the overall theme of it is much more Drustvar than anything and even for the Kul Tirans it doesn’t make much sense as their shaman originate more from their Tidesages than the drust.

Imagine being a Vulpera shaman and having to turn into this, not good.

I feel like the person who designed it probably did a lot of BFA stuff and doesn’t know fully about the original model so they put a twist on it.

I find it funny how they said, “we heard loud and clear from the shamans” and really does seem like they needed to listen more. We do want something new but not this! LOL. the forms look ok but feel disconnected IMHO. I think using some effects on your own character model or something less “Twisted Metal” would be more fitting. May be just give us more glyps for these forms and wolf forms?

The body is honestly fine. I don’t even mind the face. But it would have been better if they just used the elements for the hairstyle if they needed to have hair at all. Use a Ghost Rider styled head for Elemental, use a storm cloud or lightning for Enhancement, and something like a waterfall for Restoration.

I have hated the ascendance model since it was first introduced. It has never fit the vibe of shaman IMO so this update just frustrates me. Why is my tauren turning into this?? Kurog Grimtotem has an animation where he’s hovering with the elements circling around him. THAT is the vibe shaman want. At least that is the vibe this longtime shaman player wants.

It is the most absurd thing I’ve seen come out in terms of models for things. Truly. Some of the analogies on reddit are great. As others have said, embodying elements… what’s hard about that? I agree with being embedded in an elemental a la DF and/or having elemental “flavor” added to your baseline character.

A banshee? No.

Absolute clown form.

It makes sense though coz for the longest time shamans have been blizzard’s clown class.

I hate the new model so much! If they don’t change course I’m dumping the talent altogether, i don’t care if it makes me weaker, I just don’t want to look stupid :joy:

New model looks cool. Hopefully new ascendance cooldown effect will be added. Lightning and frost builds need their shine.

I’m also convinced the wow community will complain about literally anything. Cuz it’s all they seemingly know how to do. You all need to relax… Probably would complain if someone didn’t give you the exact $100 bill you wanted too if gifted.

There’s a time and place for that argument. This isn’t one of them. How your character looks is a pretty important part of an RPG of any kind, so people have a right to have an opinion on whether or not they pop into flaming clown mode.

Months? I think you mean an entire decade.

It’s absolutely horrendous.

I honestly think it looks really cool.

For a monster.

I absolutely do-the-pluck-not want to turn into this thing.

Just give us the Kurog Grimtotem treatment. Make a set of armor themed for each element, let us choose which set we wear in the barbershop, and make Ascendance temporarily replace our mogs with that set and make us a bit bigger and glowy.

Shaman is a class whose lore ties us deeply to our races, as the spiritual bridge between our living people and our ancestors. It’s absurd that the pinnacle of that fantasy has creatures as disparate as tauren and vulpera universally transforming into a rocky human.

Feels like the devs are torn between shamans being “Stormriders”, “Primalists”, or “Witch Doctors”; leading to this situation where the class flavor is just always wrong.

The first thing that popped in my head when I saw it was Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal. That’s not exactly the vibe I’m looking for.

Coming out of an expansion with a ton of elemental influence, I don’t understand why they couldn’t find a foundation somewhere to build on rather than this. I didn’t like the vibe of the last ascended model because it was based on, and always felt like, a twisted, Twilight’s Hammer form of what it should be. This keeps the same feel, makes it look comically bad, and just seems to miss every target possible.

It’s funny, because they’ve gone out of their way to make druids maintain some kind of racial identity with their forms. But for shamans, we have to all look like twisted humans based on a questionable process that was instituted by the Twilight’s Hammer.

it reminds me of “Heat Miser” from the old Rudolf the reindeer" stop motion movie.

It’s bad imo. When I think of shamans I think of elementals, fire ele, storm ele, earth ele you get the point. When shamans were getting their class changes people were talking about updating the ascendance model and Dathea from Vault of the Incarnates kept coming up.

I think that would have been infinitely cooler, having your character inside of a storm ele or fire ele or even just an actual elemental. TBH I would have been much happier if they updated the model to a vanilla elemental model. Turning into a fire ele or storm ele would be thematic and I think really cool rather than whatever the new model is.

Awful. Just make us ascend into actual elementals. With some sick dynamic textures

I absolutely hate it. The part I didn’t like about Ascendance was being shape-shifted into an ugly monster with a different body-type than my character. So they “heard me loud and clear” and finally update it into… an even uglier monster, now with freaky hair.

Honestly probably just not maining shaman anymore.
