rather have classic+, progress to bc/wrath talents without outland/northrend.
a year or 2 after naxx just make new raids and new content without completely invalidating previous raids. Keep the spirit of the game in mind as well, no welfare epics being spat out at you from toc type dungeons. New classic content could be created and could work, same as OSRS did. Would need extremely dedicated devs tho lol so probs not happening because blizzard.
As I agree obviously because I’m about to do it all over again, however, there are alts, there are other servers you can roll on, there are tons of options without having to NUKE the server. After 2 years lets go back and run mc for 6 months again because we want too, this is not anything different then what you can do with a matured version. I understand there is a FRESH CROWD, but I believe NUKE to the server every 2 years is the answer, sometimes the do put up new servers w/e i don’t care if they do, but i sure as hell never want to have to re-roll again that is a bunch of crap, and that kind of thinking got us into this mess last time! THIS GAME IS LIKE THE MONA LISA ITS A WORK OF ART, LEAVE IT ALONE!
2 years from now they could add The Burning Crusade expansion, but retooled and tweaked to better preserve WoW Classic’s ethos. That’s a great solution I think, albeit one that would require some work on Blizzard’s end (some work well worth the effort though!).
Total separation between retail and classic is a MUST. I’d hate to think how ugly that would be when news broke. RealID fiasco all over again would be my guess.
As for server resets, again, HELL NO.
The way your post is phrased implies you are thinking everyone is going to play one toon, max out everything and be completely geared in every way in six months after last raid is released, and that just isn’t going to happen.
People have alts, people play alts.
Not everyone is a hard core player aka time played. Some of them have outside lives, which would mean they level far slower than anyone with time on their hands to play at will.
When vanilla was out, I did not have a capped toon before bc came out and I played all the time. I had a lot of alts, on two accounts at the time. I spent most of my time making gold, not raiding and dungeons. I actually had never had a capped toon in any expansion until I came back after an extended time off (3 years) and started playing again with my bf. That was in MoP? I would not have a capped toon at all probably if not for him I’d have a heck of a lot more gold though lol.
People also have ways to replay the game with various ‘self inflicted changes’ to keep it fresh…aka Iron Man.
So what if the economy is settled down to some degree? When old players drop off, there will always be new players to take their place, maybe not as many, but some. If it ever gets to where the servers are all dead, and ALL the people are asking for new servers or resets, then and only then, I think it might be considered, but if it ever gets to that point, I would hope like heck that they would make NEW servers and not just reset, erasing all they have accomplished.
To just wipe and reset would royally tick off a lot of players I think. I’d be one of them.
I am not even the type of person who likes PoE or Diablo style seasonal resets.
But I don’t see how Classic can stay healthy and last without them, and that is the point of the thread.
Getting attached to your characters works fine on retail WoW, where you’re constantly getting content patches, or expansions, but that will not apply to Classic where the idea is to preserve classic in a bubble with no content patches or expansions.
Am I really that ignorant and crazy to believe this is the case? Nobody seems to have formed an actual legitimate argument as to why I am wrong.
Server reset isnt adding new content tho… Instead its taking everything you worked towards the last 2 years away from you so that you can… Do it all over again. Yeah no.
NO ONE LOOKS AT THE MONA LISA ANYMORE! ITS OLD JUNK BURN IT IN A FIRE. WOW CLASSIC IS A WORK OF ART LEAVE IT ALONE, IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE BURNED IN A FIRE, BUT ENJOYED AS ORIGINALLY INTENDED FOREVER.
Rolling out fresh servers periodically is okay, but resetting an existing server would kill plenty of players experiences. personally, i want to make one of every class and get them through naxx. will it happen? probably not, definitely not if they reset constantly.
Very simply put, some people might take 4 years to get to the level of being able to raid, just by virtue of how many hours they can put into a game in a year. reseting servers would mean they would never have the opportunity to experience naxx content and stuff like that.
Because people want progression in an RPG? Starting over, over and over and over again, is the antithesis of that. It’s one of the reasons my friends and I didn’t bother with the stress test.
