So still struggling to find a main so leveling my Arms during TW, currently 83. I have to say out of all the specs/classes I’ve tried so far, Arms is the most fun.
Only thing is I wish we had a little more sustain (defensive not offensive).

wait until you try fury
Arms is an overall fun spec with pretty fun gameplay loop with both hero talent builds for PvE. There are some ST orientated buffs coming for Colossus though next patch which is something to look forward to.
You’ll find a lot of jaded cry babies on these forums though from the PvP side of things because they’re not one shotting on contact which you can easily ignore as they’re just making noise due to still living in the bad start portion of the xpac.
Surprisingly it’s very sturdy in keys, when others die fighting a large pack you’re self sustaining extremely well through Fueled by Violence, Impending Victory, Second Wind and Defensive Stance. I’m almost never the first to die and I’m almost always alive with the tank when everyone else is running back when a pull goes awry.
It’s illusionary fun.
When you realize your damage is actual trash and you play fury for 5 minutes you don’t play arms again.
The slam/heroic strike proc is trash. Combo points for mortal strike which is also a proc half the time and oh wait don’t forget the execute proc. It’s all weak and disjointed.
Its too much casino with little payoff. For the amount of chance left to this spec with getting the abilities to proc and then the luck of the draw criticals…..it’s crap and I wish it wasn’t.
I’ll be blunt, that’s such a non factor take from someone who doesn’t even play Arms at all in any content where it matters. Really don’t think anyone should take your input on the subject seriously at all. You’re basing Arms off your own poor performance undergeared and unprepared in LFR, you cannot make this up. Maybe if you’ve come into it with actual truth rather than what reads like a baseless complaint you would be taken seriously.
As of last Week Arms has had a competitive M+ build in Colossus which demolished the meters (pun intended). As of this week it’s added another competitive M+ build in Slayer and a competitive Raid build in Slayer. Future builds still look more than fine on the Arms front and there will be more tuning to buff it where it lacks as they get actual ST damage data from the March raid as everything before this has been a Cleave fight.
oh, maybe he doesnt play arms in any content where it matters cause the spec is trash and not fun
Crazy stuff
If it was fun he would be playing with it, ooooh, craaaazy
Yeah, crazy how someone playing awfully in LFR would have a warped viewpoint on a spec.
That’s cute. Another wannabe ‘elitist’ claiming superiority because of their content cleared. Unless you’re in a world first guild bud you’re a pleb and ways will be a pleb.
The spec is a noodle that plays like a malfunctioning slot machine. Your attitude and piss poor reply is what drives people away from this game. I’ve played arms warrior for 20 years in this game and the current iteration sucks. Drop all the rng and make damage flat again. The combo point mortal strike and random proc crap sucks. Also, remove slam from the game
Arms underperforms in raid. The cleave nerf hurt bad this week. Shrank my damage on paladins by a large margin. The supposed single target buffs they put out don’t seem to help. Fury is still miles ahead of Arms.
And yet when looking at data from the past week, it’s in the upper 3rd of specs on most fights it’s equal to or above fury and in cases like dragons it’s a much less pad reliant build for higher boss damage, with fury having the advantage on Chimaerus for pure pad shenanigans being assigned first down. Even for Heroic March it’s the preferred spec over Fury on both fights.
That’s not to say that both Arms and Fury don’t need some more buffs, they do. But Warriors are still largely in a position to be competitive and perform if played correctly as they have difference niches they can lean into by multispeccing this tier.
At least analyse your own log before you make baseless claims. The differences between your kill last week and this week was the following.
Worse Crit RNG than your previous week.
No PI this week.
Worse sweeping strikes uptime this week.
You also had less than half the heroic strike procs you had the week prior.
You also had 2 less casts per minute of Mortal Strike this week compared to last.
Lastly your gear is shockingly bad statted for Colossus Arms. Puzzlebox is bait, go back to a Crucible of Erratic Energies or pickup a Solarflare Prism.
All these make a big difference when it’s a combination of playing worse and being less lucky.
I prefer to call it realistic and honest. Which let’s face it is demonised in this day and age in society because how dare we speak logically instead we need to worry about feelings when someone is spouting nonsense not rooted in reality.
By all means have your opinion (even if it’s extremely incorrect), but to exclaim it like it is fact when all the data points otherwise is insane. You can keep repeating yourself as long as you want, but it won’t be any more true.
Arms performs extremely well in M+, has solid options based on the fight for Raid especially if a different damage profile is needed instead of add pad.
Actually, mathematically despite the nerf to cleave, Arms actually increased in AoE damage due to how our AoE involves a lot of our single target abilities.
Should someone tell the Warriors in higher keys to stop playing Arms then? Cuz a lot of people once they get past 14s are swapping to Arms for total overall damage. Even Slayer Arms is finding success which actually surprised me.
The spec have the same abilities and skills in lfr or mythic, if the spec feels trash and doesnt appeal to players to go beyond lfr its a class problem
The spec has the same abilities, but the player does not.
If you put someone who’s only ever driven automatic for 20 years behind the wheel of a manual car they will consistently stall that car.
Who’s at fault? The Driver? Or the Car? By your logic the car is the problem. When it is infact the problem is the driver who’s insufficient knowledge of how that car is meant to be driven causes them to be unable to leave the parking lot.
The cold facts are bad players making claims that the spec is awful when the real problem is their gameplay especially doubly so in this week’s iteration of balance. The game is not at all at fault in this case regardless of your irrational hate for it’s current design.
At some point we need to stop coddling delusions and start taking accountability. Accountability is when you take responsibility for yourself and your actions rather than blame others.
Yep, Arms is a blast to play. I come back to Arms this season too but I don’t have much time to actually play WoW nowadays.
And, Its kinda surprising how fast we can join M+ pugs, at least the +7~8 range that I’m at right now, so maybe our reputation as a spec is not that bad too (Arms kinda rocks in AoE).
Actually we are ok at this one too, but the way our sustain work is kinda weird compared to others specs.
Just don’t forget to use Defensive Stance.
To start, until you get the hang of it, if you at half HP and feel like it’s going do drop even further in the fight, maybe is a good time to go defensive for some seconds till the healer catch up for instance.
oof – look arms is fun and with latest tuning it’s probably as strong as it needs to be but there is a rot in pvp that is a bit beyond the reach of whatever telemetry blizzard is collecting. The mobility game is horrible, and while some great players out there make it work, its silly to just ignore as start of season growing pains. Obviously it isn’t impossible to win but being on the backfoot is still so much more punishing than other classes and since this topic is from a new player their potential frustration is important. If PVP is not important to them then warrior all the way; its a great class and arms is the only spec for me!
Yeah well they know who they are
.
The OP has 21k achievement points on their account. They are not a new player in the slightest.
While PvP balance does dictate how frustrating a spec can be in PvP even when Arms was strong if it’s counters were strong it was always a miserable experience in previous seasons. But if you’re also a player that’s into PvP the thrill of overcoming that disadvantage is apart of the fun of the game at times. Which definitely seems to be lost on the new breed of BG blitz / solo shuffle players who’ve only known failing up a ladder to get their rating. Feedback the painpoints around the spec losing multiple root breaks which were necessary for uptime purposes, sure the change might not be immediate but they are definitely open to ways to fix that experience with the changes they keep on making week after week. The PvP balance should start ramping up soon once the 4th catalyst charge is in action.
While I understand your point, I demand, sir, that you qualify your statement:
”You’ll find a lot of jaded cry babies on these forums”
To something that doesn’t offend me!
Look if you’re not one that shouldn’t exactly bother you. Players who provide constructive feedback like adults aren’t apart of that comment. It’s more players who provide no substance behind their complaints and just throw out blanket statements that don’t line up with reality.
Great, gladly we made that clear.
Not relevant to this case, sorry.
and if you put then in a bike, and ask then to keep up with the cars, its the company fault for giving you a bike
dont care if you like the crap bike though
you talk crap about people not going past lfr but you sure like to say crap about pvp “crybabies” when you barely went beyond rival 10 years ago.
Never ceases to amaze how you never reply in the context of what you read, but infer your own idea that you reply to and it just ends up being musical chairs with goal posts being moved.
I will repeat it again. Arms is in a solid place now in M+, could use a minor buff for ST in raids infact it’s better than Fury in half the fights but it is nowhere near the level of awful players claim it is due to their extreme inability to play it correctly which is evident through logs.
