Warlocks are solid in drain comps. They do well in 3s.
In 2s, they can be okay, but I feel like they struggle too much against rogue/war+healer comps because they lose the efficiency battle thanks to not having a mortal strike of their own, so their healer ooms first and they lose. In actual TBC, Mage/Priest, Mage/Rogue, Rogue/Rogue were semi-common 2s comps and Warlock did well against them and could climb off those. But once you started hitting Wars and Rogues backed by healers, it got really really tough.
You can also take a lock as one of your flex DPS in 5s. They do okay there too, but aren’t the cornerstone of a team, just filler with extra cc.
I might not even play TBC Classic if there’s no arena in Phase1. I’m leveling to 70 to what… grind dungeons and do BGs? No thanks. Also with their “plan”, Rogues will have Warglaives in SEASON TWO… LOL such a failed plan, hope they update it to not be stupid af.
From my memory glaives weren’t a problem in arena till S3/S4. From this time table they will be in S2 which seems off. BT/S3 definitely needs to be at the same time. Don’t really care how they handle S1 & S2 but I just want this to be as close to the original as possible.
Absolutely right. Having 4 phases to match the 4 arena seasons would make more sense. Having PvE gear be a tier ahead of the PvP gear will effectively kill TBC arenas and people will just keep playing on private servers where they don’t have to no-life raids in order to compete in PvP.
Sure PvP gear has more resilience so maybe by Season 3 or 4 it will be better balanced, but people will need PvE gear to compete in Season 1 and 2 and the other seasons will be off because of the imbalance in itemization.
Should look like this in my opinion:
Phase 1: Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, and Magtheridon’s Lair Raids will open (ARENA SEASON 1) Phase 2: Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, and (ARENA SEASON 2) Phase 3: Hyjal, Black Temple, and Zul’Aman (ARENA SEASON 3) Phase 4 : The Sunwell and (ARENA SEASON 4)
Duh. I was responding to some comments you made about the benefit of the crafted weapons. The benefit is that they’re good. Like, VERY good. Notably better than other weapons. It’s not just that you get them sooner.
Yeah pushing S1 to P2 seems like a really weird choice.
I get that TBC release was, in short, a catastrophic mess and I’m glad they’re changing the release schedule. But I think starting S1 in two weeks(?) after release is still the right choice.
BWL release took 4.5 months from classic launch. If arena season 1 is launched two weeks after release, and then the season is 4 months (17 weeks), then S2 and T5 come out at the same time, and later S3 and BT/MH can come out at the same time, and S4/SW can come out at the same time, and everyone’s going to be ok.
Having Season 2 being released with BT/Hyjal makes no sense, BT/Hyjal weapons are just as good as Season 3 weapons, and in some cases (Glaives) are straight up better, having Rogues with glaives in S2 will make PvP so much unbalanced, not to mention they are the class that can wear the least PvP gear, you’ll see Rogues decked out in t6 pve gear with a mix of pvp just shredding everyone.
