Arena Points fix - out of season april fools joke?

So, the devs acknowledge that starting teams at 0 rating caused players to earn significantly fewer points. How does increasing the points a player will earn in a week by less than 100 help? The BEST CASE scenario for this change is being able to get 1 additional piece in 3-6 months. Gloves - 12 weeks. Chest - 18 weeks

It’s feeling like phase 2 is coming in a month or 2, and 95% of people are going to have 1 piece s1 and 1 piece of honor gear. Fix your shi

  • Player versus Player
    • [With weekly maintenance in each region] The formula for Arena Points has been adjusted to increase Arena Points awarded each week. This will equate to approximately 100 additional points per week for most 5v5 teams, about 88 additional points for most 3v3 teams, and about 76 more points for 2v2 teams. Teams near 1500 rating will get more, and the curve still tapers to the same maximum as before.
      • Developers’ notes: In original Burning Crusade in 2007, players could expect to receive 450-500 Arena Points per week by playing at least 10 matches and winning more than 50% of the time. At that time, a team who lost most of their games could expect to get about 300 points per week. Starting from a team rating of 0 has created a points-per-win curve that has been significantly below that, so we’re raising the point floor to compensate for the additional time needed to raise your rating. With this change, all 5v5 teams over 100 rating should get at least 300 points per week.

Whoa, she said she scatter trapped and had some good pvpers on her team lol. Jokes aside, it doesn’t take an elite pvper to understand the numbers do not make sense.

Weapons cost about 4000 and requires 1850 rating. At 1850, you’d get 637 points, so it would take 7 weeks. If this season lasts another month and with how they broke arena teams; people will have one piece s1 gear. The cost doesn’t match how long this season is looking like its gonna be.

head 1875
shoulder 1500
chest 1875
gloves 1125
legs 1875

mh / oh 3150 / 1125
2h 3750
ranged 1000

8250 for main set ~4000 for weapons and 1000 for ranged =
13250 total points for full gear.

Two solutions, fix mmr so people can actually get higher rating and get enough points or fix the calculation.

Do we have any idea when/how much the arena gear is going to be made cheaper by? The same post says “before the end of season 1” but given we also have no end date for S1 yet, that’s a pretty vague thing to plan for.

Also make a correction that offhands still cost 3150 if you use SLOW offhands. So enhancement shamans need pay extra.

Seasons generally last between 3-4 months. So this is a rough idea on when it will end. S2 will have to launch with SSC/TK so this also gives you a rough idea.

They said S2 will launch later to give people time to catch up on S1 gear.

Blizzard does not like its player base.

Any competent person could have pointed this out. More than likely Blizzard just maliciously screwing their customers.

Thats stupid because people will get the weapons from the PVE and further outscale pvp gear.

But did they consider if they delay s2 people will be doing season 1 with stormheralds and other broken weps? Imagine having access to season 3 quality weps in season 1? This is what will happen if they delay it.

Yeah pretty sure S1 doesn’t end with SSC/TK release

Most PVE weapons are better than the PVP ones tho so this is irrelevant.

Most PvE gear in general is better or close enough to pvp gear and easier to get. This is how TBC was. Reslience isn’t even the same stat it becomes.

Vanilla = Raid gear strictly better than PvP
TBC = Mixed with both raid and PvP viable at times
WotLK = completely separate gearing progression for PvE and PvP

Pure dps wise, competitive in PVP. This just pushes one further hurting people who want to pvp without dedicating their time to raiding.

Nah, its only like that with certain classes and items. For the most part, 80% of pvp gear is going to be better than the Pve alternative.

I disagree, I think in TBC most classes want resilience. Only rogue, and possibly priest/mage really want to stack PVE gear. PVP/Resilience means so much in arena.

With the new arena point rewards, a 1850 5s gives more points than a 2150 2s lol

unless you’re under 2k rating… yeah.

If we had the arena point calculation post-fix at the beginning… I would have at least 1000-1500 more points. Enough to get another piece.

Specifically talking weapons if you weren’t tracking.

Yeah that was my original comment if you’ll read. My comment was as a rogue. Only 2 weapons are considered better than the glad s1. So imo it’s pretty balanced.
