Why is this the only class I play that’s sitting around waiting for resources?
Why is energy still treated like it was 15 years ago despite mana no longer being used for damaging spells? Energy is objectively a detriment because you guys can’t figure out resource logic a grade schooler could comprehend.
Why is ret pally a better rogue than rogue is?
Holy Power > Combo Points
Infinite Mana > Energy
Wake of Ashes does more damage than any of our single target spenders, but is also a generator, and is also an AoE? lol???
Why are you so bad at something as simple as making rogue good?
If you’re this bad at your job (you are), why can’t you listen to the endless feedback given by people with more than 3 wilted cabbage leaves in their noggin?
Energy management has always been a part of Rogue, and each spec has different energy needs.
I’m not entirely sure why you’re comparing Rogue to Paladin - maybe you got killed by one in a BG and didn’t think it was fair? - but all you’ve done here is throw a tantrum.
Are you the wow dev in question? You seem focused on the surface-level.
Its not about the class comparison, its about this incredible concept called precedent.
Its meaning eludes WoW devs at every turn.
9.1% of M+ was Ret Paladin in DF S4
0.3% of M+ was Sub Rogue in DF S4
Why?
Because Holy Power is the same thing as combo points, but you need less of them to do more damage, and you never ever have to wait for energy.
If you can’t connect the dots on how these things correlate and how a simple grasp of precedent would inform even the most meager intelligence that this doesn’t make any sense, I can’t help you.
You’re not supposed to be spamming the crap out of Mutilate because we have quite a few execute range talents, so if you have low energy during execute, your damage is double gimped.
If you want our abilities to actually hit for meaningful damage, then you’re either waiting for resources or cooldowns- but either way you’re waiting. I honestly don’t know what you think your suggestion solves.
imho energy pooling is thing of the past and should be removed. There’s no other class that has to wait 5 seconds to press a button during combat, because of energy/mana/ regeneration.
You are also forced to take specific talents, to not be absolute starved of energy, which is another design flaw. Try playing assasination without Vigor and Tea, and you will cry out of constant energy issues.
Either remove energy pooling completely or return Relentless strikes passive back to assassination specs and buff venomous wounds.
Vigor is a nice talent as it allows you to make use of down time (M+ moving between packs) and extends how much you can do during your opener. There actually is choice their (not for Sin lol) as when youre able to consistently hit a target the benefits go out the window.
Tea is a mechanic implemented to mitigate piss poor energy regen. All that energy should be baked into the class. The talent absolutely needs to go.
An absolute favorite cause as the tank is pulling everything to the boss you inevitably get hit by some random aoe or pulse effect that pulls you outta stealth despite being 20+ yds away waiting for the 3 seconds for energy or a CD. Now youre doubly screwed.
Then either the energy regen needs a 100% buff or the abilities using energy and combo point spenders need an enormous damage buff because this is just incredibly annoying that Rogues are the only class whose resources need to be watched, pooled properly, kept above tresholds and Assassination is the only spec that actually has segments of not pressing any buttons because you’re pooling energy.
This is ridiculous. You play this and think it’s fine until you try an Enhancement Shaman or a Retribution Paladin or actually ANY other melee that’s not a Feral Druid and you finally notice how absolutely ridiculously outdated and garbage this feels.
Actually, I agree with some of the stuff you said! Turning Thistle Tea into a multiple charge cooldown is a little silly, and it’s probably only there to play off of the nostalgia of using tea back in the day. Better baseline energy regen would be much better than needing to smash the Thistle Tea button every time I press Mutilate and nothing happens in the middle of a fight.
Rogue definitely needs a few upgrades, and maybe even a few big shakeups. There are a lot of bugs as well - classes ripping us out of stealth with abilities that aren’t targeting us from 100 yards away is horrid - but I choose to fight on through the jank.
Finally someone else pointing out Thistle Tea is kind of a meme. I can’t get the mental image of my Rogue pulling out a large can a la Arizona Tea with the words “Barrens Ice Tea 99 copper” on it and chugging it in the middle of a fight while holding their finger up to the rest of the party
To be fair the only one of the 3 specs that uses Tea for the energy portion itself is Outlaw if you actually spec into it. Both Sin and Sub want to use it at specific times in PVE for actual damage purposes because of the Mastery buff it gives which is why auto Tea is incredibly stupid on Blizzards part. Literally all they have to do is make it a choice node talent with one that auto uses it for casual players and one that’s player activation but that’s way too hard for Blizzard. Hilariously enough if the situation applied to Mages that choice node would have already existed the second it was announced.
Is there any other spec that suffers from the same “welp it’s not my burst window guess I’ll just do maintenance to not overspend energy” Assa does?
Outlaw has it’s issues which are in fact pretty major too but you don’t feel actually bummed out during your down segments.
