I think it probably has more to do with people getting annoyed with the “uncertainty” with which the older end of the “Millenial cutoff” has had since the term was first coined.
And the matter that being born in 1979, I don’t really relate to Generation X very well either.

Turning 30 this year
If I had to guess the mean age will probably be 23 or 24
Couple that with the fact that when I was growing up Millenials were also “Generation Z”, now Generation Z is apparently the ‘post-millenials’.
I used to go over to my friend’s house when I was in junior high, I think, and play Bard’s Tale with him and his brother. I have no idea what kind of computer he had, but that game was addictive as all hell.

How many 12 year olds are you expecting to play Classic, given the majority of returning players will be 27 even if they were 12 in Vanilla.
I would say more then we think if parents play the kids will to.
This is to funny, I’m 73 and still playing. Looking forward to WOW Classic it’s been a long time…

Probably not many but definitely a lot of people ages 16-22

Uh, no. Millennial’s were “Generation Y” because “Y” comes after “X”
Which is why the Post-Millennial Generation is also sometimes being referred to as “Generation Z” because Z follows Y.
I won’t win parent of the year for this, but back in the day my then 14 year old son was a pvp arena god, and as an old guy I really sucked- but wanted the loot. I forced the little dude to carry me for hours upon hours. Practically every match involved me dying in the first 45 seconds, and then him killing the other two players, collecting loot, and on to the next. He got tired of this quickly, but had little choice but to keep his daddy happy.

Per the ESA the average male gamer is 32, the average female is 34.
These numbers are probably skewed by old folks playing ultra-casual mobile games, but I have to think the average Classic player will be in their 30’s.
