Not really. WoW launched with what 300-400k players? Maybe by the end of the year they were a little more. By the end of Vanilla it was at 8 million. So yeah, most of those 8 million didn’t play in 2004.
Was 11 and my bro was 15 when we started wow. People mistaked our age for bad gamers as my bro reached GM rank on his warr and then eventually we duo qued arenas in TBC 2k+ before quitting wow for years. Now 26 looking forward to classic again where it all started
I guess I am above average, been playing since beta testing vanilla and haven’t left yet. Blizzard thought maybe 50k-100k were going to play for the first free month and got 400k-1,000k the first week and blew half the servers up.
I was told , "Do you want some vanilla " and thought they meant ice cream and found out it was a game.
Yes I am a boomer and have my AARP card awhile. I enjoy the game but really can’t wait for wpvp on classic…the real wpvp !!!
Same here Abril, I actually ordered a new headset as i want to make more of an attempt to be accessible this time. I was quite the loner last time ( I had little kids to watch)
Im going to put myself out there more this time and be more involved. Im totally thrilled about the rp pvp server as thats exactly what I wanted to do!
Another out of the 30-40s range at a delightful 50.
Amen to this. I like to call us the “forgotten generation”.
The thing so many people forget when arguing the semantics of generation names is that they’re mostly relevant to marketers and advertisers, people who want to target a demographic and separate as many fools from their money as possible.
Generation X was one of the most skeptical and likely to reject marketing directed at them, then along came Millenials (Gen Y at the time) with their Boomer parents’ credit cards buying into the crazes. When you can get Baby Boomers and Millenials to cash in, why target cranky Gen X’ers who scoff at your ads?
