Guild wars 2 does have flight and they built content wonderfully around it and it even has flight physics to swoop around and travel at insane speeds. Eso has instantaneous travel so flight is not needed but they have said it may be a feature of the coming elswhere expansion. Ff also has flight… seems like all the mmos except wow are capable of listening to what their customers want.
Well, today I learned, apparently! I honestly hated Guild Wars 2, personally, so I never stuck with it which is probably why I didn’t know.
Honestly, if they just made flying mounts “combat capable” it would solve some problems.
Don’t let flying mobs attack ground players, put them far enough out of reach of the ground they don’t aggro, but not far enough that a flying player won’t be “seen”.
Flying players close enough to ground mobs can be dismounted by nets. All mobs that make sense (have hands/intelligence of any kind) can do this. Beasts/other maybe have some other method.
Targeting a mob in the air shows their distance from you in their nameplate or on their health bar. To facilitate players who aren’t adept at knowing how far they are. Alternately, clicking on them shows a circle radius so you know how far to be.
There’s a “too high” region where you’re safe from all mobs.
Other players can attack you, negating the safety of Flight in wPvP.
Melee abilities cause a small “dash” to the enemy to compensate for difficulty in keeping distance. Melee isn’t too problematic on the ground, but with an additional axis it can be tedious. Or make Melee range 10 yards in the air in general.
Psh I cancelled my sub the moment they made mythic anything irrelevant with the catchup mechanics. Months of activity nullified with a weeks worth of effort. Flying might at least draw me back to complete the “lil stuff” I wanted to do before the last raid comes out.
It’s mean-spirited and borderline insulting of Blizzard not to have scaled minor AP rewards at this point.
There’s literally no reason that people who need 70k+ AP to level their Heart should still be receiving a tiny ~30 AP as a reward from chests and rare mobs.
It’s disappointing that we’re going to have wait a full year to be able to finally fly in BfA. They should be pushing flight out more quickly, not delaying it more with each expansion.
They said they liked how draenor pathfinder worked out, and they would do Legion the same. And instead they gave us 2 parts, each greater than pathfinder draenor.
Then they said they liked how legion pathfinder worked out, and they would do it exactly the same. Which means they greatly increased the requirements and extended the stringing-along period.
Rep grinding counts. And no, you didn’t finish your rep in 2 weeks.
Nah, the surge in subs will be shortlived. Months while people grind out the rep and do whatever bit of content they release with it. Then they will drop back to where they were. It’s a way to keep the income from the game from falling below a certain threshold. A knob to turn on the money machine.
in 8.1.5 there will be a new quest chain dealing with magni and M.O.T.H.E.R.
In it mother tells us at the end that her process to scan the archives or something will take approximately 77 cycles which is a reference to their 77 day patch cycle of legion.
Going off of that 77 days after march 12th is may 28th.
Therefore I conclude that 8.2 is likely may 28th and may possibly be pushed back to june 4th the following week.
Agreed, I didn’t go out of my way to do rares in Legion, but they were always worth doing, the resources were at least useful we don’t even get those on these rares, and the mission boards now are hardly worth the time, and it certainly isn’t worth me taking up space on my phone for an app to do them.
Didnt Mr. Blizzard say in a recent Q&A that they also feel rares should actually be rare and rewarding? Who knows when that will come into effect, but when it does I’m thinking true rares will be once-in-a-blue-moon sightings and beefed up mobs that you can’t just sneeze at and loot like most rares today.
Don’t forget that the current WoW team is as anti-flying as it gets; I feel most, if not all the good, pro-flying devs have left.
They’ll either delay flying as long as they can, or make pathfinder 2 takes forever to complete.
listen to that with the filter of the goals of keeping people logged in as much as possible (MAU)
Every time they say we think it strikes the right ballence … full potential ask what potential and the answer
It gives us the best metrics to please share holders.
Never make the mistake that they count on player making of thinking that they mean pleasing players / customers by providing them the full potential and fun of the game.
It is always about milking the player base to please bloody kontex n activizzard n share holders.
the customer / players are just the cow that they milk, and bleed for money , as much as they can.
The content is trickled out as slowly as possible to keep that cash cow flowing.
We are just another problem to be solved, not enjoying a game made by gamers for gamers that is fun to play with reasonable compensation for the product (expansion cost and sub cost) but things to be addicted with things like RNG gambeling addictions and milked until we either die or unsub. Then they dare send emails to get us to come back just like a drug dealer will give an ex addict a free sample knowing that they will pick up the addiction again.
it is always we are just part of the raw materials of pulling in money. Quality, fun, or anything else is just incendiary, and trickling it out is keeping the addicts around to be milked.
Hah, I remember you from the early days on Terenas. I used to be a gnome warlock named Gwendolynn if that rings a bell although I wouldn’t imagine it does.
I’m going to walk everywhere. Like I did back then, too.
But we’ve had flying since BC. Which is a heck of a lot longer than we’ve not had it. The gameplay could’ve been doubled in size had they embraced flying like they once did. But they’d rather tick off a huge chunk of the playerbase with stupid crap like Pathfinder Part Two.
The Pathfinder system actually ticks off less players, than the old system where you had to pay gold for each and every character that wanted to fly. With the pathfinder do it once…and every one of your alts can fly, not that hard if you play thru the content…They aren’t really asking that much of you. To get rep is very easy in this xpac. So I guessing Pathfinder 2 will be easily to achive as long as you kept up with the content…
