Are we getting better performance in TWW?

Damn bro my 6 year old pc that i paid 2.2k on 7 setting is getting 70 fps in Vald and 130 - 140fps in world setting

In the graphics options check what your max fps is set to. You may have accidentally set it to 30. Uncheck it, restart the game, and see what happens.

Theres no way thats possible. 1/3rd the price but 3X the performance? Doesnt make sense.

turn liquid details and commpute effects down to good.

Still don’t like your fps?

Shadows to ultra or high

Still don’t like it?

View Distance, Item distance, and ground clutter down to “8”

If you still aren’t getting good FPS IDK what to tell you.

but liquid and compute effects caused the biggest dips in fps for me.

I still don’t often get over 60 in the middle of valdrakken.

i have a high end pc too, and while i have no issues, performance for this game is lacking.

Sounds like you spent 6,000 about 8 years ago if that’s what you’re getting. lol

What specs/CPU cooling are you using?

Because I’m getting 2-3x that in valdrakken on a computer that’s about half as expensive.

It’s only Valdrakken that has an issue.

The game plays fine for me at max settings, aside from valdrakken.

WOW is a cpu intensive game

Why would i lie ? Sometimes expensive stuff is not always better lol, thats rich people mentality

Most of the people here saying their WoW “runs just fine and it’s a you issue” are not bothered by technical specs and FPS concerns.

Valdrakken has to be one of the most poorly optimized zones ever put into this game bar none. And that’s just a fact. Blizzard needs to address performance optimization in future expansions and retroactively address old zones as well.

Weird flex but okay.

It’s more likely an issue on your end considering my PC costs half as much and gets triple your frame rate on max settings. You’ll likely need to check with your local computer expert on solving the issues.

Valdrakken on a Tuesday is particularly rough on your CPU, but if your $6000 PC is struggling to run this game you should RMA right now.

Yea I don’t want to seem like I’m piling on but it really does seem to be a your computer specific issue.

My rig is older and a bit outdated (1080TI and 8700k processor) and I run at minimum 70fps in Valdrakken even when it’s fairly packed. Average 90+ fps.

Now if you’re running a 4k monitor with everything maxed out it could be understandable. But a modern $6,000 computer should run this game at 100 fps without issue even on the most hardcore settings.

damn my $800 pc from 2020 thats a prebuilt
gaming pc from amazon can run this game buttery smooth
i couldnt believe it was not butter thats how smooth it is

sounds like u got jiped sorry mate

I listed my specs above. I’m not sure why OP isn’t listing their specs considering no PC cost $6k atm. $2k for a 4090 then the top end CPU, mobo and RAM cost nowhere near $6k. Val bottlenecks everyone’s PC due to the engine being super old.

My understanding was that because of legacy code that wasn’t making optimal use of modern parallel processing, single core CPU performance used to be the big WoW bottleneck? Is that still true? (Was it ever true?)

It’s uses two last I read and looked. Windows auto assign to cores helps a bit. Especially 10 & 11.

Wow is very CPU dependent in areas where there are lots of players, such as the major cities. You can’t really compare fps in “other games” to wow, it’s sort of like apples to oranges.

Look to upgrade your CPU if it is becoming an issue. And check if you have stuff like ultra-high ray traced shadows turned on. That will also tank fps for not much of a noticeable difference in fidelity.

What are the specs?

Just so you know, your CPU might have 12+ cores but WoW only uses 1-2 of them; doubtful they’re changing their game engine to use more anytime soon.
