Here is how I solved this.
I went Blacksmithing.

How did that solve a monopoly?
You cant even have trade active on Area52. Its like looking at twitch chat. So fast and spammy.
Tells me they have a weak crafting community other there, if one guy can basically control it.
Like in real life, you need an entrepreneurial spirit. For example, you and your friends mass report the crafter. He will be automatically banned. There you go, now you have taken this big player off from the market.
Stay tuned for more advice from your friendly immoral and downright shady economist mage.
And this is exactly why the current report system is broken. If an actually human being reviewed the reports and found them to be filled for a malicious reason, it should be them that is banned.
It’s a fundamental problem with their desire to make the crafting a social element, but not considering that means the only way to get sales, is to spam trade chat, which isn’t fun for either seller or buyer, and isn’t even really a social thing.
They should have just added sell orders for crafters. There’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to post a sell order with pre selected materials I demand from a buyer, a price, and any concentration I would contribute. This would have been a significantly better experience for the buyer, than the current public work board that just consists of people getting scammed by people with bad skill, bad knowledge build, and no tools.
Throw in a similar daily restriction on private orders, and you would get the social aspect they claim to want. If you want access to a crafter’s limited crafting capacity, you will want to buddy up with them, in the same way that people buddied up with tanks/healers before cross realm queues made that no longer necessary.
Yeah, they can’t though. I’m not made of money but I can still work on expanding my trees and fill folks’ orders
Cuz I don’t have to partake in it?
I craft my own stuff. They can monopoly all they like ![]()
Yea? 2 Words.
Watch me.
And congrats, you reinvented the auction house.
The AH is exclusively sell orders, but yes. It’s essentially /like/ the AH. But if want crafted gear to continue requiring BOP mats from the person who will use the gear current AH can’t be used to sell said gear.
Are you playing on a small server? I was under the impression that the new crafting system pretty much killed crafting on small servers, at least it did in DF.
Maybe this person just spent a lot of time grinding the right knowledge points? Maybe they had enough capital to finish all the patron orders?
If people want to do this I can’t really fault them for it, but what confuses me is that (on my server, at least) other players will form a mini-cult following around these crafters.
I saw someone in trade a few days ago singing walmart-crafter’s praises, and bashing some guy for not wanting to use him.
People are weird.
The answer to many questions right there!
For real? Lol come on man.
Does it prevent other people from doing crafting?
Why, no it doesn’t
Literally nothing stopping you from getting your own stuff up and advertising
Walmart is based on cheap prices and using volume to make a profit.
TWW profession system is about using artificial gates and scarcity to charge high prices.
Not the same.
So I just found out the dude has a community and a following, so yeah they’re monopolizing.
Yes!
I will take that one star weapon, how much for the tip? ![]()
And this prevents everyone else on the server from leveling professions and using trade chat?
Wild
