In the High Elf thread, someone claimed they just received a 6 month ban for using the TRP3 addon. I find this hard to believe, as TRP3 has been around for years and is used by many on RP servers. Can anyone either confirm or deny this?

That would not make much sense unless TRP3 alters game files somehow… does it?
They must have had something offensive linked in their TRP3. A few months ago, linking NSWF material (p$rn, etc) from your TRP3 has become a reportable offense, wherein before it was not.

There were a ton of people on Reddit earlier saying they got falsely banned for botting with the new ban wave Blizz put out, which focused on certain addons that would change in-game models.
Wouldn’t surprise me if some innocent people got caught in the fallout.

TRP3 had a recent addition that allows players to report the TRP3 profile to Blizzard. If you have any NSFW material linked in the profile, or if you’re using the profile to troll (such as using IRL names, racial epithets, etc) and it’s reported, Blizzard will ban you.

Yeah I know few people that ate a 6 month ban for using customized player models, seems pretty harsh.
Well, TRP3 does not alter in game models.
That’s interesting–I hadn’t heard a lot about that.
6 months raises the suspicion of “botting account action” when I see it. I haven’t seen it used for any other account action.
I haven’t seen a lot of chatter on this on Customer Support–which is where I get a lot of data on this sort of thing.
With all things of this nature, if you feel you’ve been actioned incorrectly, file an appeal. Another person will review the data.

This makes more sense. I played on Moonguard years ago, and there were definitely NSFW profiles being used. Thankfully I don’t see any of that here on Emerald Dream.

There was a decently long thread on the technical support forums which was locked not long ago full of people complaining about catching a six month ban for botting when they didn’t do anything.
Whether that’s true or not, who knows, but maybe some random addon got caught up in the wave.
Having it installed and what you do with it are two different things.

Rumor is that a lot of modders on RP realms got banned for breaking TOS by modding the actual game files.
No idea about a add on ban, haven’t heard of it before this.
