If you have an interrupt you should be actively watching things to interrupt regardless of role. I play a tauren priest healer and have no actual counter but I still use my fear, chastise, and warstomp anytime it’s needed. That doesn’t mean DPS should rely solely on me but instead means they should be doing the same thing. Any good player already does those things.
On my mistweaver and resto shaman I usually do more interrupts than the dps. But that’s because I don’t want to heal the damage that happens when stuff isn’t interrupted. Resto shaman should probably have the most interrupts throughout a dungeon because wind shear is amazing.
I see and hear about this a lot in key groups. In some cases, it makes sense but in most of them it doesn’t. I think it’s largely affix dependent in these cases…
Would you rather: Push one button and stop 500k~2 million damage from happening?
Or: Die and blame someone else.
Because that’s what interrupts come down to when they matter because after a certain point, you don’t just “heal through” missed interrupts, you just die. Being in the habit of pushing buttons to prevent death is everyone’s job and is better learned early rather than later.
Don’t encourage bad habits in group content because it will come back to bite you if you ever try something harder.
DH/Paladin tanks will have the most interrupts. Followed by melee DPS. Other interrupts would be spread among ranged with short CD interrupts, healers, then ranged with long CD interrupts.
There are also dps who expect healers to do dps as well as heals because the dps players are too bad to get good. They even have some healers brain washed to believe it.
Good healers are always pushing buttons without mindlessly overhealing, which means pushing buttons that deal damage during times of no or low incoming damage when healing isn’t necessary. Bad players (regardless of role) sit AFK waiting in group content.
It all depends on what youre doing tbh… In keys its really useful for me (the healer) to contribute via interruptuing (even dpsing) in case everyone else is on CD which does tend to happen… sometimes more than 1 dps will interrupt the same mob lmao so yes. Interrupting as healers is not far fetched at all.
