Looks like some people haven’t realised that SAP breaks you out of stealth in vanilla unless you have points in Imp Sap.

Hit them until they die.
Hunters are obnoxious
Orcs are obnoxious (rng stun resist)
Dwarves are obnoxious (stoneform removes blind)
Good druids can be obnoxious (faerie fire lasts 40 seconds)
A lot of people think frost mage is a hard counter, it’s not. Newbie rogues will flop sure, but a skilled rogue will punish you hard if you don’t know what you’re doing

Well, not sure if they fixed it, or if it was a bug…
but once you earn a worg pet thru the quest. Mine actually seemed to really dislike a rogue, named Llane and would literally chase him when he was stealthed.
All I would do is follow my worg pup and there he be, trying to figure out how the pup, well no time for that Llane… Windfury to the Head!
I never asked the pup why or how, I just follow it.
there’s a few totem that really drive rogues insane too.
Watch all the Vanilla PvP videos… see the class rogues showcase the least…
thats the rock to rogues scissors…

It’s basically nothing more than old news entertainment, even in Classic.
Those videos were made before 1.12, where the landscape for Rogues changed.

I still remember what goes through my brain vs a rogue:
Sapped into Cheap Shot into Kidney Shot - Barrier will be able to hold off for a lil bit then blink on KS. Nova if he holds combo points into poly. Otherwise, immediatelyy cast r1 Frostbolt after blink. If he uses Sprint, cast poly.
Probably vanish either from Nova or from the poly after blink - Blizzard the rogue out. If you catch him, it’s basically GG
Run far and away from the vanish point if you miss blizzard(you move faster than him in stealth). Recast barrier, try to get out of combat and eat whatever miss health back.
Rogue will probably open up with CS again (may DR). Nova if available or CoC him if not. If no Nova or blink, fake cast poly or cast Scorch so he can kick it.
This game of cat and mouse goes around for a little while. I usually try not to use Ice Block unless he uses blind or when I got caught in a full KS with no blink.
Probably the best time I have playing a mage.

I’ve heard you can use a low rank fireball for the ticks, to keep them from vanishing. Maybe it’s more trouble than it’s worth though.
Almost every dwarf is a counter to a rogue.
I’ll much prefer getting a poly on him instead fireball so I can get a clean opener. But after he’s sitting in poly, you can cast fireball with the opener then follow with r1 frostbolt to prevent vanish.
Also double or even triple cast poly in case he trinkets off it. Literally most of the duels against rogues are for me to land a clean poly. Nova and blinks are on a lot shorter CDs so mages can afford to do so to exhaust rogues’ CDs.
lvl 1 dots and mark
level to 60 that eliminates you from 90% of rogues target list.

I think hunters do better against rogues in wpvp situations. Mostly because you have flare, can hunters mark him if you spot him before he stealths up and you can drop traps in anticipation but if the rogue gets the jump on you, you’re most likely going to die unless you pop cd’s and pots.
