Really going to hinder the bots?
It would seem they would pay the 15 once just to carry on.
The change means Bliz will at least profit from the bots once more.

I honestly don’t hold much faith in them reducing their activity by much. People will continue to use their services regardless, praise them reducing gold prices on commodities, and gaslight anyone that says anything about them.
It will only hinder the minnows.
Large bot operations can afford an initial monthly fee and another every 6 months.
I’m afraid this is an accurate take.
See, then they would have a way to track it
I believe the intention is that if an account is banned for botting, they can also blacklist the payment method used.
The token made it easy to make multiple subbed accounts so even if some got banned the botter could fuel themselves for more accounts.
By requiring at least one payment, the botter is limited to how many payment methods they have, which isn’t that hard to get more of but is still a much bigger barrier than before.
Sounds like we will go back to phishing emails again. It was their old way to fleece unsuspecting people.
I may have to reinstall my authenticator.
I mean, if the person falls for that, it’s kinda on them.
If once a year Blizzard at least gets money. Plus if its farms with 100 accounts that starts to hurt.
I assume the existance of Blizzard’s token makes gold selling high volume and low profit margin.
They profit more from tokens.
It will actually hurt them more since bots cannot just convert gold to dollars whenever they want so less tokens will be brought and sold, and a lower demand would equate to a lower supply which would lower the price and help you more than the bots, or least help those who use gold for subs.
Because the bots need to spend AND use 30 days of game time, so no tokens brought and sold in those 30 days for each new account, bot or not, means even less tokens will be sold.
So unless AH prices drop, it might even spell the end of tokens.
It won’t spell the end of tokens. Too many use em. It will mean people like me will have to buy more tokens with money, and people that farm gold for their sub will have to farm less.
Considering the only big things left to buy in this game are from prior expansions, unless they introduce something else to eat up gold, the amount of passive income we get is far more than enough for many to not need to buy tokens.
I brought one or two tokens in DF when the price hit close to 400K and that’s it, prior to that back in BFA I used to buy all the time, when the AH was not unified and some server prices were terribly high.
But since all the changes up until now I just have no need to buy a token and neither do many. The price will go up slowly while all the bots and goblins buy up supply and get a healthy BNet balance, but that’s it, once the effect takes change the price will just continually drop and snowball lower and lower until it’s dead.
Ngl. I only buy one if I need a specific piece of gear or weapon for my mog. “250k sword that looks amazing? Lemme get a twenty and run to the store for a card…”
there is a big inflection in raw goods prices going on right now.
the ice fish went from 20g to 65g.
Maybe some of the botters are cashing out?
I could see that. There are better options for them now
Blizzard makes more money from a sub bought with gold than a sub bougnt with dollars.
That’s assuming tokens are bought as frequently as they are listed.
That’s why the token price goes up and down. If there are more tokens being bought with gold than dollars, the gold value goes up to incentivise buying them with dollars so it evens out. Or vice versa.
