Not a real RP player or anything but I do like to have lite headcanon backstories for my characters depending on their mog etc.
Been using a Scarlet Crusade themed mog lately but I don’t like how fanatically insane they are (no offence to those that do).
I learned about the Scarlet Renegades recently which are a lot more aligned with my personal interests and now I like to think my Pally is one of them, trying to bring honour back to their name.
So I’m just curious to know if they are still active?
From what I’ve read on the Warcraft Wiki, the last mention of the Scarlet Renegades, or rather its leader, was in The War Within when he joined the Red Dawn. It’s very likely those who were part of the former contributed to the latter along with Joseph the Awakened/Enlightened, in which case if they are still around it’s as a militant Human supremacist group rather than Scarlet Crusade redeemers.
Granted, there could be remnants still upholding the original ideals, but that is mere speculation. Since the Scarlet Crusade itself still exists and, as of the Arator’s Journey questline, have been shown to have defectors, there’s still room for individuals like them to exist.

The last in game mention of them was that they were among the Human renegade groups that the Trollbane daughter was trying to band together to restart hostilities in the Arathi Highlands.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t really think the Renegades were any less insane than the rest of the Crusade, Joseph simply turned his “THEY ARE CORRUPT AND MUST BE PURGED” crazy on the existing leadership of the Crusade in the Monastery back in Cataclysm, instead of against everyone who wasn’t already part of the crusade.
As noted, Joseph goes on to join Nials’ “Red Dawn” human supremacist stupidity, alongside Defias and Syndicate goons. Note that this is the ONLY mention of these Scarlet Renegades outside of their introduction as quest-givers for the Alliance inside the Scarlet Monastery before the Pandaria revamp.
Basically the only sane Scarlet Crusaders are the ones who realize and recognize that the organization and the name are irrecoverably tainted, and decide to get out.
