It feels like Holy’s in a somewhat-incomplete state:
- Even though Holy Light is supposed to be for emergencies only, they’ve still got the splash of Resplendent Light attached to it—that kind of splash is better placed on the kind of heal you use on a regular basis, like Flash of Light or even maybe a new/unpruned AoE heal like Holy Radiance
- Easy low-hanging-fruit quality-of-life improvements like replacing Shield of the Righteous with Shine of the Righteous, or making Denounce into a PvE talent, just aren’t happening, even though they’d be simple and a massive improvement for our gameplay
- Even though they’re paying close attention to Holy’s damage rotation, they haven’t added any ways to expend extra Infusion of Light procs to deal damage when running with Inflorescence of the Sunwell. Having Judgment consume all IoL charges, or adding a filler (I’m sure whoever tuned Holy Shock’s and Judgment’s cooldowns and SotR’s CDR is sick of hearing us ask for a filler spell, but a filler genuinely would improve gameplay for us) that consumes IoL would work…but neither has happened.
These issues have been lingering for several weeks, indeed, the Holy tree hasn’t changed for several weeks, making me wonder if the devs have decided to leave Holy in the state that it’s in until launch. That’d be depressing, and all too typical of how the devs have treated paladins throughout WoW’s history.
Remind me again: have similar things happened in the past where the devs resumed iterating before an expansion after leaving the spec alone for several weeks?
I’m confident they are not done with Holy. Besides your concerns, we still have a new talent which has different effects depending on whether we are using a shield or a 2-hander, yet no viable way to use 2-handers. We also have, if I remember right, a Lightsmith talent that buffs Rebuke, which is an ability we no longer have.
So I’m sure they’re still working on the spec.

I been through this rodeo so many times. I can see that rebuke talent sitting in there till almost pre-patch. When they do change it will be something just as bad lol

Honestly this whole beta process has been sketchy.
Devourer has among the longest threads in the board, and the last major update it got was…icons art changing.
The fact the Lightsmith tree still isn’t done means we know they haven’t given paladins more than a glancing nod yet, but it’s still not a good sign.

You are far to positive, based on Blizzards past history this talent will not get changed until the second tier of Midnight.
I’ll remind y’all that Blizz deliberately let Holy Paladins launch in a completely unfinished state in BFA.
Since they have already started number tuning it’s extremely unlikely that we will get any more major changes.

Another beta build with no changes, maybe they don’t want to do any big changes before the holidays? January will be the real test.

We can certainly hope it’s that…I’m toying with the idea of putting together a youtube video listing the changes that must happen for the tree to really make sense and function, and a kind of a player wish-list. Problem is: I have no idea whether those devs ever bother watching such videos!
I guess that just goes to show how much communication is a two-way street: we can say whatever we feel or talk about whatever we see here, but we have no way to know whether the devs have seen what we’ve said, nor what their feelings, wishes, or plans are regarding what we’ve said even if they have seen it. It’d be nice if there was a lot more transparency about what they’re working on and what their future plans are.
Devs are dumb af i wouldnt get my hopes up
