Are people actually, legitimately upset that they can't get two bag slots?

As a person who played for a good chunk of BFA, this event has little to offer me that matters. The transmogs are ugly (although I admit, the FOMO of losing out on the sets compelled me to collect them none the less), the gear is weaker than what I already have, and while the pet will likely gain in value over time, based on the legion release pet…that’s gonna be a while.

The bag’s about the only thing of immediate, practical value to me, or anyone who has kept current with the game. So we don’t get to feel the gradual progress a returning player does of getting stuff from the other rares boosting our strength or unlocking xmogs from the old dungeons. All we’ve got is grinding for the bag.

So that’s what we focus on, and then we realize how the design for its acquisition makes no dang sense, but is perfectly in line with the way Blizzard is handling the game as a whole.

Consider the drop rate. The drop rate tells you a lot about how easy Blizzard wants it to be for you to acquire the item. If they want it to be really rare and require a lot of dedication, then you make the drop rate absurdly low (like the 1% chance on raid mounts). If you want everyone to get it as long as they try even a little, you make the drop rate 100%, or reward it from a quest.

But a drop rate of 20%? That tells me that Blizzard doesn’t want the bag to be free, but want you to get it if you put in some work. Which is perfectly fine; a good event should have a mix of rewards for a range of different efforts. Totally fine.

But the root problem is that Blizzard is relying way to hard on drop rates and rng to implement this. VERY few items in the game are under your control. And unlike a grindable currency, RNG can screw you. It’s possible, though unlikely, that you could try for the bag a decent number of times (10+) and not get the bag, while some other guy can get three on his first four kills. It doesn’t feel rewarding, or fair, ESPECIALYL when, unlike raid mounts, you can’t try for years to get it; you only get two weeks.

If they just put the bag on the vendor for a large number of commendations (Say, 100), then it would still require effort, but you couldn’t get screwed in a temporary event. Which is where the frustration lies.

Look, I’m just going to say best in luck. I hope you do get that bag if you choose to farm it. However, you have got to understand that no amount of fussing over anything is going to change the fact that you’re not guaranteed anything except access. Bottom line. Bron’s bag was never a guaranteed drop even in his instanced state. Sure, you could increase your chances of getting it but I mean, that’s the same thing with this guy. Don’t get his new bag? Cool, there is one of equal caliber to be purchased. Congrats. Like, even the haunted memento wasn’t a guaranteed drop, your chances of acquiring increased as, you know, took part in the event. Higher drop rate, sure, but the same principle applies. I eagerly await your half-response as you continue to extract snippets of my replies to address. Like, by your logic, we should have never had any change implemented or the sort because iT wAsN’t LiKe ThAt BeFoRe.

While I can see the point of making it available via a vendor (and there is already one of the same slot number available at a very high gold amount) this is hardly the first item in the game that is time limited. The only difference is one of degrees. The Love Rocket is the same, except for the added degree of availability of it being annual. The Pandaren Phoenix mounts were available to everyone who participated in MoP and did the Challenge modes. It’s all, as I said, a matter of degree. The only common factor is the time limitation.

So should we make all those time-limited items available via a vendor?

I already have it as well as the memento. Also YOU were the one who made the claim that Blizzard is moving away from the model that they are continuing in Shadowlands to ignore that this event goes away from what they have been doing and continue to do.

People are losing their minds over 2 slots

Four slots if you are poor, two slots if you are rich. But still 30 slot bags are dirt cheap and everybody has some form of vendor mount. So slots don’t really matter. They want to go "neener-neener I got it and you didn’t.

Quote it then.

So um yeah.

I don’t think you’re driving the point you think you’re driving, champ.

Like, I stand by those statements but I do think you’re inferring them incorrectly. I mean, I can try and lay it out for you but I don’t think you’re gonna grasp it because it’s pretty simple as is.

Well, yes. Everything from talents to spells to the way classes work, pvp and end game, dungeons and grouping, world travel, mounts, gear acquisition. It’s all been changed. This bag thing is just another instance of that sort of change.

Like, I really don’t get how this is that difficult to get.

welcome to humanity. Is this your first day?

There is nothing else to complain about for a couple days.

But not me, I got the bag.

I’ve put 4 character’s through running the rares. I’m only concerned about 2 of them getting the bags.

Hunter…1
Rogue…3
Mage…0
Priest…0

I had to delete 2 of them out of my mail.

What a waste… I could have sent to another character. But instead had to delete them.

Well at least they all have had some good gear drop.
Now I’ve got an abundance of Scourge stones.

Luckily my Hunter and Rogue are the ones I wanted to have them.

So, let ME get THIS straight.

If we neglect to do, or weren’t here for X expansion(or prepatch, anniversary, whathaveyou) people get told WELL YOU WERENT HERE/DIDNT DO IT, TOO BAD.

But also, if we ARE here, participating in the limited 2 week event and actually get a little vocal about how it seems a little unreasonable that the darn things drop so seldom for some people… We THEN get berated for actually wanting the rewards in a reasonable(BEFORE IT ENDS) time frame?

I just want to get my facts straight here.

Thanks.

Well to be fair, I sell bags as a Tailor. On my server, the 30 slot bags go for about 300g where the 32 slot bags are going for about 7k last I checked.

So a wee bit more than a 1k difference. Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if I can make 34 slots soon.

Actually, aside from the Scourgestones, It looks like it has the highest chance to drop of all available loot from the Icecrown rares (21.68%). For some drops it is significantly higher. The big difference is that the bag is basically a guaranteed upgrade for anybody’s character, but other items might not be.

I like collecting. I like having the “best” things I can get as a casual. Got bag 1st attempt

Same here. My kill:loot bag ratio has been pretty good. I’m probably hogging everybody’s good RNG’s.

I got the bag and keepstake twice, one on main, one on an alt. You just gotta keep trying guys, one day you’ll get lucky. Hopefully I can get the drake too.

I have 3 characters left and one of them is holding the rest back because I am now on 10+ attempts to get the bag.

There is only a few more spawns left before end of the event.

I had a herculean streak tonight. 1 bag for 2 attempts. 5 pieces of gear from 4 bosses total.
