This sudden decision was the dumbest move and probably affected the population more than people would like to admit. Way back in WOTLKC, I knew guilds that transferred to Pagle and the ones I heard almost always broke up after with some players just quitting Wrath.
In Pandaria with the guild achievements and the years people committed to their guilds and realms? I wouldn’t be surprised if the numbers were in the ten thousands or more that decided to quit.
Grobbulus, the only PVP server was randomly assassinated - So of course no one is PvPing

Really miss playing MoP as an MM Hunter. Even now the random bg queue time says 10minutes on Benediction (locked server), was wondering if the queue time was due to being on a locked server; similar to OP wondering if queue times/player pool are battlegroup/server locked (causing the queue times injustice).
The battleground issue has nothing to do with the perceived low population, there are 2 main issues:
The first issue is that most people that play mop for pvp is likely playing alliance, which causes the alliance queue times to increase, have you ever joined WG or tol barad? Those 2 BGs do not enforce equal numbers on both sides and most games alliance vastly outnumbers the horde.
The second issue is that BGs are just plain and simple a waste of your time, if you do celestial dungeons and convert shards into justice and justice into honor, you get much better honor/hr, even if you assumed that BG queues were about as long as the celestial dungeon queues, doing bgs is just worse.

So people that like pvp and predominantly enjoy battlegrounds are wasting their time? Even when they don’t raid, or even do world bosses, they’re wasting time…lol.
They shifted the whole game to a pve focus, forgot and left in one thing in that you have to pvp for, and then the population kind of took a dumpy at the same time. So when you add it all up.. it more or less means BGs and BG que times are in the dumpster.
What’s the queue time for Horde?? Have zero qualms playing Horde if queue times are short.
Switched to Horde during Original Release Warlords of Draenor, because of queue times being 7 minutes on Alliance side. The instant to 7 second queue times were gloriously worth playing Horde in OG WoD.
Generally 3-5minutes shorter (supposedly) but I think it’s generally much the same (I have toons on both sides). Horde does however win 1 in 3, whereas Alliance is more like 1 in 2.
Que arenas, no one plays BGs. This is a PVE focused game
Sure, if they’d introduce solo queue.
By the way, Alliance treating random BG’s like RBGs…been three days 10+ bgs since I’ve had a win on my healer. Such fun.
Hey dude, IDK How can I enter a Battleground? Because my level 65 Worgen can’t, since a Battleground isn’t available.
But those responsible for the GDKP’s premade Alliance players parasites who use a double Horde accounts and the smurf mechanic to win all the time, Blizzard really doesn’t care much about PvP outside of just the Arena.
