A wow mobile game? Are you kidding? Bliz already tried that with Diablo mobile. That didn’t go so well. I can’t imagine a wow mobile. No way!
Remember they said it would be moving to a mobile only experience soon and desktop clients dropped.
Tbf, their not wrong. ![]()
(as in they lived up the hype it was built up by these people, where typically calling something a “WoW killer”, kills the game)
MMORPG games are dying because no one have found the sweet spot Blizzard has.
If somebody does you can kiss WoW goodbye.
To be fair, i think it’s more of Gaming dying due to mobile games. If microtransactions are only relegated to just F2P stuff, it would be fine. Not good, but fine. Putting it on premium priced games seems like overkill.
Okay I have to ask:
How is not playing your character fun?
They already announced it.
Yep. Its real easy to be unfaithful.
D3 season play takes up my attention more once pvp is caught up to my needs (that cap has sucked week 1 and 2, imo). I like its you play the account not the char angle.
the demon hunter full shadow set from season leads the farm. She is the account sugar mommy. she gets alts stuff. As she rare/elite farms very nicely.
alt got the exact dagger she (main) needs for BIS. stash transfer. yay! I don’t care how I got the dagger. I just wanted the dagger. the demon hunter farmed and cubed for hours no joy.
Lost ark I will take up more when season 25 ends. Again…I like you play the account, mostly. You have reached this level…would you like +5 stamina for everyone? Yep. alts hammers out next stage, all get it. It respects my time. you have played for X hours. Did y things. Lets share what you got. I like that.
wow…yeah. Do it again. alt 1, alt 2, alt 3. More needs to be BOA as I see it. especially when zm has been so fun only 1 char has worked it. other 3 workables…pvp, pvp and jsut to be different…pvp.
The jailor is in ZM mallwalker. Well, good for him, Primus.
Are apples dying because of oranges?
Is basketball dying because of hockey?
Is the DCEU dying because of Marvel streaming shows on Disney+?
MMORPGs are an entirely different beast than mobile games. Unfortunately, if you go to a gaming company and go, “Which one will you spend your time and resources making?” 99% of companies will point immediately to the mobile game, without even letting you finish your sentence. It’s not in the players where they compete, but the developers.
MMORPGs are resource heavy, time heavy, internet speed heavy lumbering beasts that consume budgets and man-hours, that require their players investing in expensive hardware to even run. The tradeoff is that they can get away with monthly charges and heavier-weighted transactions. But the requirements for a mobile game are development-resource-light, played on a device that nearly everyone has. So while almost will pay a monthly fee for a mobile game, a whole lot of a larger base will pay smaller fees for little perks, boosts and resources that a MMO player would scoff at.
I play nothing little puzzley mobile games while I’m on flight paths in my MMO, I’ll do both, it’s no big deal. But if a game company only has the time and manpower to develop one, it’s probably going to be a mobile game nearly every time.
Well… It’s fun collecting new characters almost like a collecting card game. Then you create a team usually 3 or 6 characters. Equip them with the best gear you can get. And put them running a dungeon to see how they do. You can always take control but it is just as easy to let them do it them selves because even with pay to win it becomes real repetitive, real fast. To add to this the dungeons are only a few per level and you got to grind them endlessly. I would say the collecting the characters and gearing them is fun. The dungeon running to see how the team fairs is fun for a while. But then you hit the pay wall you realize that you reached your personal end game. Because after that it becomes an addictive money sink. I strongly warn people to not engage in. When say money sink I mean hundreds even thousands of dollars per month. The Devs of these games have openly said that they design their games to lure in Wales, Their own description of the types of gamers that will become addicted, and spend tons of real world cash.
So Its fun at first in a kinda rolling dice way. But then it become boring and financially dangerous if you are the type of person that can’t control themselves with money.
Thank you for the explanation.
I knew Blizzard copied mission tables from mobile games but never realized how closely.
Their creative well has really run dry.
Mmorpg’s will continue to be developed regardless of whether or not there are huge playerbases logging into them. They started as a niche type format that grew in popularity back in the day due to socialization online being a novel and fun concept in an online game world. These days these games are evolving in interesting and positive ways and likely appeal to content creator types of players. Those types of players that like a big sandbox, hundreds to thousands of players in a game, and politics, sabotage, and what not being part of a hugely complicated game.
Riot MMO might revitalize the genre
MMORPGS have apparently been dying for, what, 15 years now? Seems to me like there are more than ever before.
Surely the dozens of mobile MMORPGs are not dying due to mobile games.
All this faith in a game nobody knows really anything about, that will ship several years from now if things go the right way, and led by Ghostcrawler, sincerely puzzles me.
Faith can move mountains
I dont like mobile games.
