very quick question. do we have evidence if frostwyrms are intelligent or bestial? is it case by case or a blanket thing? thanks.
They’re undead, and as far as I can tell, subject to the same vague, wishy-washy depiction of intelligence as all other undead. Some are very clearly intelligent and speak in full sentences - like Sindragosa in Icecrown Citadel, who yells at you throughout the fight. Others seem to just roar and eat, the draconic equivalent of mindless zombies.
They’re dragons and dragons are intelligent (nominally speaking, they’re all idiots) so yes, unless otherwise enslaved or mind controlled or something.
I don’t know if they’re always intelligent, but they can be, since they are undead dragons, most often from the Blue Dragonflight. Sindragosa was intelligent after she was raised, she speaks during her ICC fight.
Oh boy does she.
Just reading your post replayed that “beTRAYS you” sound clip in my head.
Several of them talk. So at least some seem intelligent, yes.
I assume as was said, being undead, some are more feral than others.
They are undead constructs, nothing more.
Even if their soul should be bound to them they can’t do anything. They are controlled. They were once intelligent in life. This doesn’t change in death (at least on Azeroth). They are tools against their will. If their soul is in their resurrected body, yes they are intelligent (but can’t control their own actions).
It’s the same as it was for Forsaken.
Depends on the Dragon they’re made from.
A lot of the Scourge aren’t mindless so much as they just are overwhelmed with a desire to serve the Lich King. But they still think and can take actions of their own accord.
That’s how you get Orbaz disliking Koltira and not wanting to save him cause he’s an elf, or Anub’arak cracking a dark joke about how he’s being mentally enslaved.
The rank and file are brainless so obviously it depends but I wouldn’t be surprised if the LK left most Frostwyrms with their minds and relative sapience intact.
That’s what I wanted to describe.^^
This is the best take I’ve read on it so far, but I’d add that it also probably has a lot to do with how they were reanimated. If it’s a top of the line sort of reanimation, like what Arthas did to Sindragosa, then it’s reasonable to believe that they’ve got a great deal of intelligence/sentience even still.
Arthas was incredibly powerful as the LK, after all - so I’d think that has to be taken into account. Similar to Sylvanas raising mindless ghouls vs. the Val’kyr reanimating fresh Forsaken in the starting zone.
Lesser wyrms reanimated by lesser necromancers probably have less of their intelligence/sentience retained.
