This is the answer and We had this kind since Vanilla.
So straight up this is a theory
Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if Neltharion experimented on Dragon eggs adding in the essences of different flights and obviously the mortal races somehow basically making them a sort of Dragon Polymorph
Yeh, that generally what I lean towards too. I am just curious since we do have instances of Dragonkin in other media with short lifespans who were created to be a servant/warrior kind of race. Those being the Dragonborn from DnD. Er, also short is about Humanish, if they don’t die early.
For that matter, I wonder how long the Drakonid live too… 0_o
Lots of good thoughts/points here.
I think one of the issues for figuring out their origins is that the term “essence” is so vague. Like, what does it mean to have a mortal’s “essence”, or the dragonflights’ “essence”? Does it mean magic, or DNA, or a template, or just a form of inspiration? It seems like it could be anything from putting an actual dragon and mortal in a particle collider and fusing them together, or starting with a mortal and giving them dragon powers, or starting with a dragon and giving them mortal traits, or just taking a bunch of dna/magic and putting it in a blender as Mardrigala said.
I agree that secretly sequestering eggs to experiment on is kinda sketchy for pre-evil Neltharion, unless they were his own eggs or he got permission from whatever flight the egg belonged to first.
